How to use the optimiser:
27
Step 1: make a copy.

- Mobile: use the Google Sheets app. Make a copy via Options (or ...) -> Share/export -> Make a copy.
- PC: use the Google Sheets website. Make a copy via File -> Make a copy.

DO NOT save the sheet in Excel - please keep it online, as a Google Sheet. This is because the scripts are written in Google Sheets' programming language, which is similar to JavaScript, whereas Excel has its own language, which is imilar to Visual Basic.
28
Step 2: set preferences and input stats.

To properly calculate efficiency, the optimiser needs to know some chances, and it needs to know which skills to ignore. You can set all that in Stats input tab. Further explanations on this are below.
29
Step 3: reset all skills.

Use the button 'Clear tree' in the Knight tree (SP optimiser tab) for this (this should work on mobile as well). This resets most skills to 0, but some of the tier 1 skills (topmost skill in a branch) to level 2. This is to unlock the rest of the skills below it. If any tree you need doesn't have these two levels in it yet, add those manually. (I'll try to change this to always open up the correct trees, but for very high SP counts, this might fail
You can manually do it as well, by setting all skill levels to 0.
30
Step 4: make a build.

Go to the SP optimiser tab. Increase the level of the topmost skill in the list on the left by 1. You can use the button next to the SP cost.
If you don't have that skill unlocked yet, either unlock it if it only costs ~3 SP to do so, or upgrade the next skill down on the list.
Repeat until (nearly) all skill points are allocated.
31
Step 5: use the build.

Go to the Screenshot tab and screenshot the build to save it somewhere, then use it in-game. You can also save it in the Builder tool, explanations of which are at the bottom of this page.

36
Explanation of warnings
37
Impossible build warning: shows up in Sorcerer part of main tree and colours screenshot tab red. Note this doesn't necessarily mean you made a mistake, there's just a crappy skill you need to get to unlock the good skills below it. Get level 1 in such a skill and you're fine. Look at the Troubleshooting tab if you don't know what part of the build is impossible.
38
Update available warning: above the main tree and colours screenshot tab light green. Shows up when the changelog is edited. See warning above the main tab for a short summary of the change.

40
Explanation of settings/data entering
41
Normal stats
42
Efficiency: efficiency is a measure of the damage increase per SP spent. This is a factor (in other words, it multiplies in). That means efficiency > 1 is a damage increase, efficiency 1 is useless and efficiency < 1 hurts your damage.
43
Total effect: this displays the total multiplier your skill tree set up gives you, converting gold to damage and using reductions. This can only be used to compare two builds of the same damage and gold type, however, since it's the multiplier the skill tree gives. It doesn't account for differences in artifact effect and base damage of the chosen damage source.
44
45
Choose main Damage type: Choose Shadow Clone for an idle build without too much tapping, choose Clan Ship for a strong build that relies on a few quick time events, choose Heavenly Strike for a fast, but active and mana-hungry build, and choose Pet damage for a strong build that requires constant tapping.
46
Choose main Gold type: Choose pet: Heart of Midas, Fairy, Boss or Chesterson gold. See Troubleshooting and Hints for more info.
47
Total SP: Total number of SP you have (doesn't matter if you've spent all of them, just enter the total).
48
49
Ignore if not enough SP in tree: Optimiser won't suggest skills you didn't unlock yet (by spending SP in their tree) when 'yes' is selected.
50
Ignore duration/cooldown: Determines whether duration/cooldown is used to calculate efficiency or not.
51
Individual ignore: Ignore a single skill, so it won't be suggested. Use 'on/off' below the skill name.
52
Cumulative efficiency mode: Shows efficiency from 0 -> current level (instead of current level -> next level) in the large tree, list still shows efficiency per level. To check if some skills stand out in particular.
53
Downgrade mode: Shows efficiency from current level to one level lower. Since this is sheets, and it's very very annoying to do stuff with prerequisites, it won't see that a skill is a necessary prerequisite and it might recommend you downgrade it. Just ignore the recommendation (or the skill itself, with the on/off dropdown). To not leave gaps in builds, I've also set it to never recommend downgrading level 1 skills. It's not the best way to do it, and it's kind of crude, but it was the simplest way to do that. Finally, -1 will be displayed as efficiency for skill that cannot be downgraded, so ignore all -1's you might see in the tree. It's not a bug, it's an easy way to mark skills with a value they'd never get normally. I'm not 100% sure if the tickboxes to upgrade skills downgrade stuff in Reverse mode.
54
Darkmode: Speaks for itself, changes background colour to darker colours. I'm aware the transition to and from is pretty slow, but I can't help that. Apparently, Darkmode is also a bit slower with calculations, but it should still run just fine.
55
56
Online/offline: Accounts for how much you're online. Online ignores all inactive damage, offline ignores all active skills and things that only work when online (AAw, pHoM, etc.). Offline with push to MS uses inactive damage, as well as slightly reducing active stuff.
57
58
Hero: Input which hero is currently your hero dealing the most damage (usually the last one). Used for gold reduction.
59
Ascension: Input which version of your hero you're currently on. First buy -> No ascension. Second buy (after the hero reaches level 6000) -> Ascension 1. Third buy (after the ascended hero reaches level 6000) -> Ascension 2.
Please note that heroes have a grey portrait border before ascensions, a blue one on the first ascension, a green one on the second ascension and a yellow one on the third ascension.
60
61
Ancient Warrior set: Whether you own this Mythic set or not, used for Anchoring Shot.
62
Chained Clockwork set: Whether you own this Legendary set or not, used for Lightning Strike.
63
Dark Predator set: Whether you own this Mythic set or not, used for Assassinate in inactive builds.
64
Corrupt Emerald Knight set: Whether you own this Legendary set or not, cooldown reduction used for Lightning Burst efficiency.
65
66
The Master's Sword: Whether you've maxed the artifact or not, gives Tap damage from heroes, only used for Chivalric Order.
67
Maya Muerta the Watcher: How far you've leveled the first hero, Maya (evolve is 1st evolve). Also gives Tap damage from heroes, only used for Chivalric Order.
68
All probability artifact: Whether you've maxed Lucky Foot of Al-Mi'raj or not, boosts chances. Used for Cleaving Strike, Spoils of War and Ambush.
69
All probability on slash: Input the all probability multiplier on your main slash. Your slash is the 5th equipment slot. Input 1 if All Probability is not one of the secondaries. Used for the same skills as the All probability artifact.
70
Chances: Input from stats panel, together with your current in game skill level. That way, the optimiser can calculate what you would have had with a totally blank skill tree. Keep in mind you don't actually have to reset your tree.
71
72
Crafting Power level: Only whales really need to input it. Is used for the cooldown reduction for LBurst.
73
Shadow Clone level: Input level at the end of a push (used for special attempts in LS).
74
War Cry level: Input level at the end of a push (used for attack speed buff for SL).
75
Taps/sec: How many taps you approximately get per second. 20 with Power of Swiping.
76
Max kill time: How many seconds you want to spend at most on a single boss/titan when using Lightning Strike and/or Searing Light. Mostly depends on your own patience.
77
78
Anchoring Shot damage source: Choose how patient you are. The only way for the Clan Ship itself to benefit from Anchoring Shot is to time the Coordinated Offensive bonus shot so it hits right before or after a normal Clan Ship shot. Go for 'Clan Ship' if you want to time the Coordinated Offensive bonus shot right before/after a regular shot, so that you'll hit a Clan Ship shot during Anchoring Shot's stun. Go for 'Clan Mate' instead if you don't want to do that, and rely solely on the summoned Clan Mate from Coordinated Offensive hitting during the stun. 'Clan Ship' also includes the Clan Mate's damage.
79
80
Stats for extra accuracy
81
DS damage/chance: Input from stats panel (Active Skill Multipliers). Only used for first level of Tier 3 Rogue skills and cumulative efficiency, when turned on (but you won't use that for upgrading). Input in any format (though please use scientific notation in game for your own sanity).
82
Coins of Ebizu: Is used only for Chesterson gold sources to slightly increase the Ambush efficiency accuracy. Totally superfluous, but maybe for people who want more significant digits in their total effect?
83
84
Extra explanations:
85
Lightning Burst, Flash Zip, Anchoring Shot (for everything but Clan Ship) and some other skills have made-up level 1 efficiencies. That's because they're really hard to get a good estimate for. Instead, I use numbers that will tell you when to start leveling them.
86
Anchoring Shot for Clan Ship is even weirder. You can choose whether you want to time shots or not (let the Clan mate deal damage). Input at least 2 levels for it to start recommending when timing shots ('Clan Ship' should be selected as Anchoring Shot damage source), and 4 levels without ('Clan Mate' should be selected as Anchoring Shot damage source).
87
Lightning Strike is slightly overvalued. I can't do anything about it though, since the inaccuracy is due to your other damage sources still dealing damage while Lightning Strike is still reducing HP by a good amount. This makes the efficiency be a bit off. The error gets smaller for higher levels though. Keep it a bit lower than recommended at lower levels (< 4)

How to use the Builder (to Save & Restore Builds):
90
The Builder Add-On will allow you to save and restore your builds, erase previously saved builds, and to reset the Current Build (i.e. all skills will be set to 0)
91
To Save the Current Build
92
Run the "Save" command to save the Current Build to the Saved Builds library.
93
1. In the "Saved Builds" section, identify the location where you would like to save the Current Build. For example, in the 3rd slot:
94
95
2. Enter a Name for the Build you wish to Save, in the Saved Builds section (shown above). If you don't update the name, the previous name will be used as the Build Name. In this example, leave the existing name in place.
96
3. In the "Build Commands" section, use the "#" dropdown to select your Build location (i.e. 3), choose "Save" from the Action menu, and "GO" from the Command menu.
97
98
4. The Status window will update to notify you that the Current Build is being saved with the name and location you selected.
99
100
5. The Status window will indicate "Save Complete" when the Build has been saved.
