Previous Community Resource DocumentThere is an older FAQ there but I decided to start this one fresh. Answers to your question may be there.1) Unzip the 7z file downloaded from above. This will require a program like WinRAR or 7zip to extract.https://discord.gg/SEMwxqd

Walkthrough (by Earthoul)This document is mostly up to date (Build 254), with a few "to do" subsections. It was gradually and manually updated from the previous version for Build 237, so there might still be outdated information. If you spot any, please report it in the walkthrough thread in the Public Discord.3) If you have an existing save file: Save in a Pokémon Center if you wish to continue using this save.

Walkthough (by Gio) [Slightly out of date]StatEXP Training Guide4) Go to the patcher website: http://pokemonprism.com/patcher.html and select the pokeprism.bsp file from the zip and your Pokemon Crystal ROM (.gbc) when asked for the patch and ROM files. Hit Patch.Official Twitter

FAQIf you have a question you think should be here, please add it to the questions thread in the Public Discord. If the thread is not yet made or you cannot find it, ping @futuresushi5) If you have an existing save file, apply the patch to your .sav file as well. Save states will NOT work for this.

How complete is the game? The game has a complete 20 badge questline. There is one quest with no resolution (Lance), one special gift item with no function (Crystal Egg) and a few areas with roadblocks that suggest future versions (Mt. Ember, South Rijon Gate) but not all these locations are planned for expansion. In addition, there is one Pokemon (Mewtwo) unavailable in the current version.
10
How long is the game?Fairly long! There is a full questline through Naljo and small quests throughout the other regions, and 252/253 Pokemon available.
11
Is the game buggy? There are some small bugs remaining but largely the game works as intended. Most bugs are squashed pretty quickly with hotfixes, now. Feel free to report any you encounter in our Discord.
12
I just started the game. Why can't I press Start? The start menu is locked until you receive your first Pokémon and use it in a battle. Once you have battled the Shinx, you have menu access.
13
How to play on a 3DS?Use the New Super Ultimate Injector and choose the Gambatte core if you want the ideal experience on 3DS Virtual Console. Apparently the "old audio settings" toggle with the VC emulator works decently, as well.
14
Will the devs continue to work on this?Yes.
15
Does linking with Brown work?No.
16
I messed up the time/date when starting, how do I fix it? With enough Gold Tokens, you can buy a Time Machine in the first city you come to! That will allow you to reset the clock + date.
17
Is linking with Prism for multiplayer battles working? If not is it fixable? It is fixable and it is the plan down the line to do so. In the mean time, Prism is intended as a single-player experience and all parts of the game can be accomplished without trading.
18
How do I evolve Trade evolutions while linking is broken? There is an item called the Trade Stone, available by Item Ball in several places and also via Pickup and Mining. If the mon requires a held item, have it hold the item and then use the stone.
19
What are the QR codes for?The QR Codes reveal the locations of hidden items with which you can get Legendary Pokemon. You can scan them by yourself but there's an in-game QR Scanner that can interpret them for you if you don't trust random online codes. The Crystal Egg is still unused as of v0.95. Here's a cheatsheet, though the Prism Key leads to a completed area as of this version.
20
Why are these Fossil puzzles so hard?Huge hint: they're merely corresponding Fossil sprites. Click here for the solutions. Also note that if you don't want to revive a fossil you already have, you can quit out and donate it to the other scientist.
21
Do cheat codes that worked with Crystal work with Prism? No. You can create new cheats if you learn how to use the .sym file that comes with the source, but no dev will help you make them. Additionally, devs will not take your bug reports if you have any cheats enabled.
22
What are the new types?See the Type Chart Tab
23
Gold Tokens? What are those?Gold Tokens are hidden items found on nearly every map and from a few NPCs. They can be exchanged for special items.
24
Are there a finite number of Gold Tokens or can more be earned?Finite, and here's where they all are.
25
What are the time intervals in the game? Here's a calculation for the precise coordinates the game uses to calculate sunrise and sunset.
26
Where do I get this Pokemon?See the Wilds Tab
27
Where do I get/use this item?Currently the best way to find this is on the old document, linked above.
28
Are TMs infinite use?Yes
29
Are there Natures in this game?No and they are not planned.
30
Does the game have EVs/IVs?No, and the DV/StatEXP system inherent to Gen 2 is going to remain.
31
Is there any way to change the ability of a Pokemon? No
32
Is the physical/special split in the game?Yes
33
Is there a Pokemon Prism randomizer? I want to know badlyNo and this is something that is unlikely to be directly supported by the developers at any time.
34
What is the recommended emulator to run the .gbc on?BGB or Gambatte are the best emulators to use. mGBA works in a pinch. If you're using VBA or a GBA flash cart we won't even answer bug reports.
35
Does anybody know the base stats of a Pokemon?See the MonData tab.
36
Does anyone know how to get more cage keys to get the Pokémon on the bottom floor? I completed the entire prison and I was only able to open one cage on the bottom floor. There are precisely as many keys in the game as you need for doors, with 20, but the prison isn't the only place for the item. Check the prison's bath, too.
37
How are the pokemon distributed in terms of points for the orphanage?Better DVs, lower catch rate and shininess all contribute positively to the point total. The exact formula is in the source code. If you want better DV Pokémon to donate, try doing the Provincial Park catching game.
38
What to do with Ore?Smelt it and sell it! It is possible a future version of the game will add additional uses for Ore but for now that's all.
39
How can I get the items that I found in Laurel Forest (Pokemon only entrance)? Most items are meant to be consumed within the Pokemon Only area, but you may send your Pokémon with no held items into the area and have it hold one before coming back.
40
Something hit my Pokemon when it was in the invurnurable stage of Dig / Fly!Possibilities: Either you or your opponent have the ability No Guard, the opponent used Toxic and are a Poison-type, or the opponent used Mind Reader on the previous turn. For Fly, they may have used Whirlwind, Twister, Gust, Thunder, Storm Front or Dust Devil. For Dig, they may have used Earthquake, Magnitude or Bass Tremor. If it not ANY of these cases report a bug.
41
This Enemy Pokemon had a weird move. Is the game cheating?Every single trainer in the game as of 0.95 uses valid learnsets. Be sure to check Egg Moves, Happiness Tutor moves (the far end of the TM Table) and the Move Relearner. If you still can't find it feel free to report an issue.
42
Why does [x] learn [y]?Movelearns in this game are based off the canon games, but several Pokémon also learn moves they only use in the TCG, Anime or learned in Events. As well, some Pokémon may learn alternate versions of moves where the move they usually use was cut from the move roster (like Magnemite line using Mind Reader over Lock-On). The Level-Up learnsets, as well, are intended to reduce reliance on Egg Moves and to fill gaps in the TM list.
43
Why doesn't [x] learn [y]?!We've done our best to include every canon-game TM learn within our TM list, as well as to fill the gaps where the move exists in Prism through Egg Moves and sometimes their Level-Up Sets. If there's any notable omissions you notice, let us know in the Discord. For non-canon learns, we don't really take suggestions because that's a can of worms with no end.
44
What Generation are the moves based off of?With few exceptions, moves are based off of their Gen 9 function where possible, as is TM Learnability. Noted exceptions include Leech Life (which is its weaker incarnation, and will remain as such), the time-based healing moves, which function as they do in Vanilla Gen 2, and Sandstorm which does Gen 2 damage (as does Hail). If you notice any discrepancies, feel free to submit a Bug Report.
45
How do I evolve my Eevee?Eevee evolves with fully Vanilla methods for the first five Eeveelutions. Leafeon and Glaceon are location-based, and it's pretty easy to tell when it's one or the other. Any Forest, any Ice Area. Sylveon's evolution is based on its StatEXP (Gen 2 EVs). Once it has a certain amount and a Fairy move it will evolve into Sylveon. Make sure to watch as it evolves, or you might get an Espeon or Umbreon by mistake. There are no plans to give Leafeon its Leaf Stone evolution due to the lack of parity with Glaceon (as there is no room for Ice Stone at this time).
46
What are the goals and prizes from the Phlox Bingo?See the Bingo portion of the Walkthrough
47
Why do I keep mining the same thing / why does my Pokeball keep failing with the same number of shakes?Prism implements stable RNG for certain functions, so you can't use save states to cheese them. The only way to advance a Pokeball's RNG seed or a Mining Pick's RNG seed is to consume a Pokeball or Mining Pick.
