A stable dweller by birth, Star Twinkle grew up in an environment that was threatened by increasingly scarce resources. By the time he was a young colt, the stable had no other option than to open up to the outside world. As they struggled to survive in the hostile wasteland, they were discovered by a group of Applejack's Rangers. True to his special talent, Star Twinkle negotiated a cooperation agreement between his people and the Rangers, and was eventually initiated into them as a scribe.

When the Furlong Isles were discovered, the NCR requested the Rangers for technical assistance in exploring them. Due to his special talent as a connector between diverse organizations, Star Twinkle was among the ones chosen for the task.
