I love this wonderful horse! Give some extra treats from me 😊
As you learn and become more confident, practice trying to walk and trot a little faster. Maybe just half a circle add some energy, try to post a little quicker. Even in the walk, encourage a little more with your legs and seat.
Practice posting on the correct diagonals. Although not required in dressage, correct diagonals influence balance and improve the overall picture. Sit 2 beats down to change the diagonal.
As your balance and confidence develops, also practice riding with your reins shorter and hands down more. As you rise up in the post, think of pushing your hands down. Shorter reins will also help you ride the circles and turns more accurately. Prepare earlier for your turns onto C line…it takes your horse a couple strides to turn his whole body and get straight again.
Check to be sure your saddle is well centered and your stirrups are even. Ensure that your weight is evenly distributed to each side – the same amount of pressure on each stirrup. Work on sitting up taller and keeping your elbows closer to your ribcage.
Good luck as you progress!
