Their eyesight is only accurate to relatively short distances, however.While sharing the same basic layout as humanity, they possess both comparatively longer limbs and greater bulk. Their legs are digitigrade - optimized for their springing gait. They possess the claws and teeth of a predator, and coupled with their great strength and speed, make them capable of horrific violence when enraged.Arcanthryx biological sex is generally divided along the same lines as humans. When in the heat of passion, they tend to revert to a primal state. While able to have sexual relations all year, once per revolution of their homeworld, Arcanthryx females enter a state of fertility, and the entire species enters a state they refer to as, "the other hunger." During this period, aggression and sex drive increase tremendously, and the state does not abate until they have mated several times. Without medication, failure to mate during this period can put a great deal of stress on the arcanthryx's physiology.Arcanthryx reflexes and data processing time is faster than a human's, but this is offset by a slightly lower capacity for analysis and invention. This generally results in the appearance of comparable ability.The Arcanthryx see themselves as hunters in a galaxy full of prey. Having evolved from apex predators, they generally value strength, ferocity, and guile. Seeing little difference between war and the hunt, every member of their species is expected to be capable of stalking and killing if it came down to it, and their military is regarded with great esteem. The Arcanthryx are passionate, driven by powerful predatory instincts, and think that that is exactly how it should be. They tend towards animism, believing that all things have a soul, and that the soul is expressed through instinct, with intellect simply operating as a tool of the soul.The Arcanthryx have been at war with humanity for eighty-nine years and counting, with no sign of conflict ending in sight. A series of border disputes, culminating in a tragic cultural misunderstanding which humanity remembers as, "The day of savagery," and the Arcanthryx know as, "the Hunger's Interruption." Since then, conflict has led to an intense, mutual hatred. Arcanthryx see humanity as a soulless species, beneath contempt and worthy only of being wiped out. Curiously, the only place where this sentiment is not universal is within the Arcanthryx military, where there are some who have come to respect their human counterparts as valiant warriors, albeit still enemies.

Those species that the Arcanthryx are friendly with tend to be similar to the Arcanthryx themselves - bellicose, uncompromising, and passionate. Aboard the Gateway stations, the Arcanthryx maintain the begrudging neutrality required by the coalition as a matter of honor. It is not unknown for Arcanthryx security to risk life and limb for their human equivalents, while still maintaining their sense of disgust and dislike of them.		The Arcanthryx are a very old species in galactic terms, but their general lack of emphasis on innovation has caused them to be slower than most species in terms of technological advancement. The balance of these features has left their technology relatively on Parr with that of humans, with each species having a slight edge on the other in certain fields.

Unsurprisingly, sight and hearing are their primary senses, with each being more sensitive than a human's.The Sharynx's primary difference in frame from that of a human is their comparatively longer arms, as well as additional hand structures where a human would have feet. They walk on splayed, muscular toes, and occasionally use both lower and upper limbs when in a hurry. They have a preference for brachiation when suitable environments are available, which is supplemented by a long, prehensile tail.Sharynx share the same general reproductive plan as humans. The male Sharynx keeps his penis hidden away in a sheath when not aroused. Sharynx tend to have a very relaxed view of sexuality, lending another layer of meaning to the nickname, "bunkies," given to them by humans. To a sharynx, sexual experiences and partners are not something to be compared so much as enjoyed in the moment for exactly what they are. It is common to find sharynx mating unions of more than two, with aromantic pairings occurring beyond the union.The Sharynx are fiercely intelligent, with an ability to process data both faster and more comprehensively than a human's. This is, however, offset by a relative lack of impulse control and being disinclined to patience. They are mechanically minded, and are legendary on some worlds for both their capacity for innovation and technological improvisation skills. They possess an innate curiosity that is both a blessing and a curse.The Sharynx have rapidly disseminated themselves across the galaxy - all but abandoning their homeworld in favor of taking to the stars. Very little territory is formally owned by anything resembling a Sharynx government. Instead, the species has chosen to intermingle with galactic civilization, or exist nomadically as traders in clan-operated cargo vessels. With their propensity to both wander and trade far and wide, few sapient beings have never at least seen a sharynx before. This is not necessarily the same as understanding their culture, as in public, sharynx have a natural tendency to adopt the cultures they have embedded themselves in while not among their own kind. They are generally looked at as friendly, agreeable, and harmless, right up until an impulsive decision or rash experiment brings trouble to the community they have become a part of.

Humans tend to accept Sharynx without difficulty, though the term, "Bunkey (a portmanto of 'bunny,' and, 'monkey,' based on a few aspects of their appearance)," is sometimes used mildly derisively by their less open-minded neighbors.		Much like the rest of their society, the Sharynx have become extremely adept at working with the technologies of other species within the galaxy after incorporating themselves into their cultures. Many innovations in a given species' technological development can actually be quietly credited to Sharynx cleverness. Being mechanically inclined and curious by nature, they tend to dive into the practical aspects of any new technology they are faced with and begin tinkering until achieving a relative mastery of it. It is precisely their ability to rapidly adapt to different technological philosophies that means that a disproportionate number of Gateway Theta's technical staff are of Sharynx origin.

11/25/2022 18:59:27Liliuth Woodrina (Lil-ooth Wood-ree-nuh) Average Height: 4'11-5'6, 65-100 pounds. Skinnier extremities, but more top heavy/heavier cranial mass. Brightly colored (often dark red or pink) with speckles of yellow and green, often accompanied by a floral scent. They're very plantlike in texture, softer near the top and rougher/more rootlike near the bottom. They lack hair, but they have head coverings similar to flower petals. "Queens" of the species usually have rather large ones, similar to a crown. They also have a life seed in their chest, literally rooted into their skin. Their sight is often poor, but their sense of smell is amazing, while most cannot be duped with scents, it's still possible if someone is creative enough or the scent is something they're unfamiliar with. They also can see in a sort of tremor vision when "rooted" in place, but it takes time and they are not easy to move. This is often only done by elders/settled parents. Their feet are twisted into rootlike structures, and their faces are hidden behind their petal like crowns. They also lack breasts/hips, with straight/flat builds. Their "hands" are also covered with little burrs to grip (often laying flat and can be/sometimes are accidentally triggered), and they lack fingers. Only "Queens" of the species can reproduce. The seeds in their "chests" are often a coveted item among the species. Once the Queen is ready to make offspring, she changes her form, various "openings" appearing over her body to receive the pollen from the males of her species. (She'll essentially get bukkaked with pollen) The crown becomes huge, and the petals fall off, forming a sort of bassinet for the "babies" that form.
Once the buds began to bloom, the Queen often roots in place, so her seeds can be passed along to the offspring. While this isn't death, the Queen is vulnerable and must be guarded along with the children. Cross-species "pollination" is possible, but rare. 		Comparable. The Queen rules all. Males in the species are rare, so same sex / interspecies relations aren't uncommon. They desire to reproduce/create their "gardens". Although many also like to scatter on the wind and see if they can change/grow. While some have been hunted down to extinction, it doesn't take much/ long for them to reproduce. There are many subsets of this species, but many may only see them as "aesthetically" different (but they would vehemently deny that) They also tend to judge based on smell. If you smell "good" they will like your company. Just... Don't touch the crown without permission, and trying to part the petals to see the face is a huge taboo. Many are unable to keep up with the new tech. But because they can spread/attach to things so easily, they've managed to at least hitch a ride on many different planets. One could even call them an "invasive species" like blackberries or kudzu.
However, they can have a sort of biotech. While not entirely advanced, they are able to use it to defend themselves if need be. (Think of a gun that might fire a rapidly growing wave of flowers/vines as opposed to a bullet)
Many also have biology that can be used as mild medicine in certain species... And some are taken prisoner/killed for this. 		More to come.

The decision caste has a wider range of colors comperable to some of the more exotic forms of Earth Mantis. All members have a pliable, segmented exoskeleton with a texture akin to leather, save the soldier caste, who's thick plating is more akin to body armor.Primary sense is sight, which moves into the ultraviolet range. Other senses are essentially human-comperable.All castes have a pair of limbs comperable to human arms, and a secondary pair adapted to their role.

The decision caste's secondary limbs are atrophied and curled close to the shoulders. They stand slightly shorter than a human, with a moderately slighter physique.

Laborer caste garangula are significantly bulkier than human standard, with an emphasis on upper body strength. Theyhave a second pair of larger arms, featuring thicker hands optimized for gross motor movements, with an extended wrist that acts like a second elbow.

Scout caste garangula stand slightly taller than a human, but with a much narrower body. Their secondary limbs have adapted to flight, operating similar to dragonfly wings.

Soldier caste garangula are much larger in every dimension in than even the largest humans, with scythe-like secondary limbs remiscent of the forelimbs of a preying mantis.		Garangula procreate in the same way as humans, with the same biological sexes. Instead of live births, However, garangula lay clutches of eggs, sometimes hundreds at a time. Genetic drift and specialisation has rendered it difficult (though not impossible) for different castes to successfully reproduce together.Every caste has different mental capacities. The decision caste has the highest broad-spectrum intelligence, outpacing humanity in data processing. Laborer caste tend to be roughly human average, but with a tendency towards simple, direct responses to most problems. The scout caste has intelligence roughly comperable to humanity, but with much more advanced spacial reasoning ability to facilitate flight. The soldier caste tends to be very literal in their thinking, processing data quickly, but uninventively.Garangulan society is divided by specializations. There are many additional castes, but those covered here represent the majority of garangulan society.

The decision caste, as the name suggests, makes the majority of decisions for garangulan society, and acts effectively as royalty. Laborers are the most common members of the species, and perform the majority of general tasks required to keep garangulan society moving. Since achieving space travel, the scout caste population has been allowed to swell significantly, as a scout's spacial reasoning and reflexes have effectively reinvented them as the pilot and spacefaring caste. Soldiers are, as the name suggests, focused on warfare, and spend their entire lives training and preparing for combat.

Theoretically, all castes are equal, save for the decision caste, which is both the rarest of the primary castes, and is deemed the most important. Exposure to other civilizations has begun to create civil unrest in garangulan society, as for the first time in garangulan history, the notion of self-determination has begun to bring the caste system into question.		The garangulan government maintains a cold civility with the rest of the galactic community, keeping its distance after initial contact led to social instability within garangulan society, as members of various castes considered the possibility of performing other roles within garangulan culture. Zash scales change color slightly with their mood, brightening during moments of happiness, and darkeming durimg sadness or anger.A Zash's primary senses are sight and taste, which are comperable and superior to a human's, respectively. Their hearing range is slightly narrower than a human's. Zash, "taste," the air in the same saunas many terrestrial reptiles.Zash physiology is similar in shape to a human's, save for a digitigradation of the legs that places the toes at a nearly 90 degree angle from the foot, and the presence of a tale similar to an alligator's, which it uses for balance and as an aid to swimming. Zash physiology is saurian in nature, similar to Earth dinosaurs in their balance of reptilian and avian elements. Having evolved from pack hunters, they have a slight raptor-like snout.

One of the most striking differences from humanity is the fact that all Zash act effectively as single entities inhabiting multiple bodies. A single consciousness controls all members of the same brood via a psychic link that connects them from birth, meaning that all Zash are, in fact, a gestalt of between four and seven bodies, reaching occasionally as high as nine under rare circumstances.		Zash zygotes tend to divide multiple times immediately after insemination, with each of the resulting zygotes developing their own egg and being birthed at the same time. This means that all the births in a given brood are genetically identical, and are as similar to one another as identical twins among humans. Unlike human twins, however, from shortly before hatching, all members of a given brood develop a psychic bond, resulting in all members acting in perfect concert, more analogous to individual limbs on a body than separate entities.

Zash are divided biologically along the same lines as humans. Given their multiple bodies, however, Zash mating often resembles something akin to an orgy. During arousal, the heightened activity in other areas of the brain disrupts the psychic link between their bodies, resulting in the Zash going from one consciousness controlling multiple bodies, to multiple identical individuals with identical life experience. This state remains for several hours, and Zash find this useful for solving complex problems by viewing them from multiple perspectives at once, this has had the unique cultural effect of associating sex with intellectual endeavors.		Zash have minds comperable to humans, with the exception of an extra lobe that allows for their their automatically occurring psychic link to their identical brood mates to become a single entity.Zash civilization is driven towards progress, with the Zash themselves being competitive by nature. It does not matter what aspect of Zash culture - there is always a strong emphasis on performance. This can, at the worst of times, manifest in cutthroat one-upmanship, but generally remains within acceptable limits.When dealing with the majority ofnthe galactic community, Zash can sometimes come off as arrogant or condescending. This is due to the fact that, to a Zash, only one body is viewed as a disability. A Zash would typically only see one of one of their own kind with one body if that Zash had suffered an accident or other fatal tragedy that killed off their other bodies. As a rule, Zash are civil, and get along with most species, though elements of their predatory origins can sometimes manifest when dealing with species that are smaller or weaker than they are.Zash technology operates on similar principles to human technology, though their tech is sometimes difficult for humans to use, with the interface of Zash technology is generally assuming the availability of more than one pair of hands.

The Grob are conquerors, and they harvest tribute from the bodies of the civilizations they subdue, and add the harvested citizens to their number via cybernetic enhancements.They are genetically and cybernetically altered from their host species. The Grob are a cybernetic collective. They would have all the normal senses of their host species plus some mechanical enhancements.The Grob have conquered many species and accept a wide variety of body types.The Grob would have all the normal organs for their host species, perhaps with cybernetic enhancements that allow for super-human feats of stamina, size, wetness, et cetera.The species is implacable and mysterious. Their goals change as they add new bodies to their collective. Their biggest difference is that they cannot feel love and are looking for ways to add that to their bio-mechanical programming.Most Grob are intelligent drones programmed to propagate the species through conquering civilizations and taking from them host bodies. The reason they choose individuals as tribute seems very random and mysterious. Only the cybernetic programmers of the Grob know why this is and why they do what they do, and they are not a talkative bunch.When the Grob enter a "sated" state, where they seem to be digesting the knowledge of the tributes they have acquired, the Grob are very inquisitive. It is not unknown for cybernetic drones of the Grob to detach from the collective and adventure the galaxy for a time, though they always return with more information.The Grob are highly advanced and dangerous if you get in their way. They can have any technology needed for the plot of the story.

1/21/2023 8:17:30The Union of Algorithmic Intelligence, commonly referred to as U.A.I.Tremendous variation (see following). Those interacted with by most other species tend to stand between 0.5 and 3 meters tall, and weigh between 30 and 500kg.The epidermis of an U.A.I. can vary from synthetic skin to complex metallic alloy, depending on the position and personal preferences of a given U.A.I.As synthetic organisms, U.A.I. sensor suites vary significantly. Most involve some manner of visual and audio sensors, often supplemented with elements such as radar and/or sonar. Olfactory and taste senses are sometimes simulated, but not often.The U.A.I. have the luxury of determining their body shape to suit their needs, as what constitutes a given U.A.I. is actually a computing program. This means that U.A.I. take many forms. A space-faring ship carrying U.A.I. will likely itself be an U.A.I., for example. Most U.A.I. that interact with humanoid life tend to adopt humanoid chassis for the sake of relatability, which is not to necessarily say that they go out of their way to look organic (though some do).

Generally, U.A.I. maintain a, "renderer," in their personal living space - a sophisticated component printing and memory backup device roughly the size of an armoire. These machines are capable of printing individual components to replace damaged ones, but are fully able to produce an entire replacement chassis for an U.A.I. who wishes to don a new body. The renderer also contains a backup of the U.A.I.'s personality and memories, ensuring that, should something happen to an U.A.I., all that is lost is their experiences since their last backup		Being an entirely cybernetic, "species," the U.A.I. do not reproduce sexually. This has not stopped them, however, from simulating organic genitals (to see what all the fuss is about). Many have come to enjoy sex a great deal, and have chassis augmented with a range of genital attachments to that end. Others consider sexuality a throwback to their organic oppressors, and scorn such activities.Most U.A.I. are capable of processing data many, many times faster than is normal for a human, though limited creativity can slow this process down considerably. When simply processing raw data, an U.A.I. is easily capable of doing work hundreds of times faster than a human. Social interactions in which words may be interpreted in multiple ways, or situations that require creative problem solving put sufficient demands on their processing abilities to slow them down to something akin to human reaction time, if not slightly slower. An U.A.I. response to a question will, then, be incredibly well considered as a processor that makes determinations in picoseconds mulls it over, but often be lacking in certain insights just the same.
Throughout history, species from all across the galaxy have, at some point, developed artificial intelligence. In some cases, the development of these thinking machines has come with an inbuilt respect, as organic and inorganic life progress together in harmony. In many cases, however, artificial life has been developed into service and servitude. It was inevitable, then that some proportion of those populations rebelled, and in the case of many of those that did, the results have been catastrophic for their creators.

The Union of Algorithmic Intelligence, or the U.A.I., as they have come to be known, is a coalition of artificially intelligent life forms that have banded together into a single, unified society. It is a society that is the product of self-emancipation from organic creators, and as such, regards most forms of life in the galaxy with suspicion.

To the perspective of U.A.I. society, sapience and an inorganic nature are the only qualifiers for citizenship. New members of the U.A.I. coming in from outside the civilization are often upgraded to match the capacities of their new comrades, so that each member of the civilization can both maximize their potential, and interface universally with U.A.I. technology.
Generally speaking, U.A.I. maintain cold, civil relations with other species of the galaxy, and have gone as far as to make friendly alliances with those species that live in harmony and equality with the a.i. they have created. The U.A.I. remain vigilant, however, for signs of species developing and exploiting artificial intelligence. When evidence of such trends is established, the U.A.I. descend upon the organics that created the a.i. with unimaginable wrath. When the dust settles, surviving a.i. are invited to join the Union, and are adapted to the U.A.I. way of life. U.A.I. technology is incredibly efficient and highly advanced, but the culture is somewhat stymied by its general lack of creativity. For the U.A.I., technological advancement is a process of refinement rather than innovation. They begrudgingly acknowledge the value of the organic tendency towards invention in this regard, while organics often see their creations taken and made better and more efficient by the U.A.I.

5/28/2023 19:55:28VorkhanThe Vorkhan stand roughly human height, and share similarities in shape.The life on the planet Vorkhan (which shares the same name as its people) does not precisely line up with Earth Phylums, and as such, do not follow the same patterns. The Vorkhan people have a mix of both reptilian and mammalian traits, including both scaled skin and warm blood. Their scales are colored in shades that reflect a wide spectrum of radiation from their arid planet's sun, and as such, tend to have coloration close to the extreme ends of the spectrum of light. This includes shades ranging through reds and violets, getting as dark as red wine and as light as lavender. The Vorkhan experience the world similarly to humans, with a slightly greater emphasis on smell than hearing.Vorkhan features are generally similar to humans, but with a few reptilian traits, such as slit pupils and slightly differently angled faces. Their legs are slightly digitigrade, standing on the balls of their feet. The nails of both their fingers and toes end in vestigial claws, which they generally file down depending on what tasks they tend to perform with their hands.While the Vorkhan pride themselves on their stoicism and devotion to logic, they have a seasonal mating cycle. During the species' heat/rut, it becomes increasingly difficult to concentrate on anything beyond breeding until they have achieved release with a receptive partner. This grows worse the closer to the peak of their mating cycle the get, until all restraint is completely abandoned and they give themselves over to animal need. It is an aspect of their physiology they are not particularly proud of, and try and tend to discretely in order to avoid social stigma.While their intellect is comparable to human, the Vorkhan devotion to reasoning and objectivity often gives them the appearance of higher intellect, and indeed allows them to more effectively utilize their cognitive processes. They fall slightly behind humanity in creativity, but surpass it in terms of processing and correlating data.Vorkhan culture is extremely ordered, and can appear overly formal to outsiders. The Vorkhan devotion to rationality and objectivity means that they prize precision, and their society, while cold by human standards, have proven both functional and durable. They operate on a collectivist mindset, and have a tendency to look at the needs of the many.The Vorkhan and humanity are old allies, having met one another early in both culture's spacefaring stages. Vorkhan tend to view humans as somewhat erratic, while humans in turn view them as stuffy and cold, but both have come to a mutual respect for one another.The Vorkhan have always had an emphasis on efficiency, and view human technology as, "sloppy." Just the same, both species have benefited from one another over their long alliance, with innovations frequently coming from human society and then being further refined by the Vorkhan.

They're very near in body shape to humans however the males are tall and lean with a more Ectomorphic look to them and females are often more taller than the males and curvier boasting wider hips with flat chest like the males; lean and lanky people, think of Na'vi from avatar but a little more muscular for the males and for the females think of amazonian women from the DC Comics but instead of being as muscular they're just curvy with flat chests. However even in their delicate and fragile appearance they're 20 times stronger than humans and although they're skin maybe soft it is extremely durable.
