9 | Review Barriers and Challenges | Analyze results of staff and parent surveys. After surveying parents and teachers, results indicated the following barriers: - Parents prefer face to face instruction. -Parents want safe schools with multiple layers of protection. -Parents have concerns about learning gaps due to the pandemic. | Analysis of the results provided pertinent information for planning. Actions include: -Layered Prevention Strategies for face-to-face instruction: The CDC states students benefit from in person learning and safely returning to in-person instruction in the fall of 2021 is a priority. Along with this recommendation, the CDC recommends layered prevention strategies to protect those who are not fully vaccinated. These include screening, testing, ventilation, handwashing, respiratory etiquette, staying home when sick, contact tracing in combination with quarantine and isolation, and cleaning and disinfecting. All strategies being addressed by our district. According to the CDC, though COVID-19 outbreaks have occured in school settings, multiple studies have shown that transmission rates within school settings, when multiple prevention strategies are within place, are typically lower than community transmission levels. -Students will be screened to determine learning gaps. Interventionists will be training to utilize 95% Intervetion Program to target early literacy gaps. The District School Improvement Specailist and Learning Loss Coordinator will work with school teams to train, support staff, and monitor student progress. | April 2022: The district is continuing to utlize the Personnel Policy Committee, building administrators, and feedback from principals to make decisions regaring safety measures for Covid-19. | Misty Doyle, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning | ||||||||||||||||||||
