Notes & Links for NOBO Hike
79
Check out this video for a Horeshoe Meadows to HI hike. This is the exact itinerary listed above! Mileages taken from video.
80
Some perks of a NOBO hike is that summiting Whitney is easily included, and hiking up Half Dome is automatically included with permits starting from Cottonwood!!
81
This is a really great video with mileage, camps, Google flyovers, pictures and videos.
82
Places in the above itinerary denoted with an "*" are noted by many as a really good camp spot... we should try to actually stay at these!
83
Itinerary is divided into color coded sections which represent # of days food carried, and ends at our resupply point (or finish). Carry #1: 5.25 days; #2: 4.5 days; #3: 3.75 days; #4: 4.5 days
84
We will resupply at OV, MTR and RM. We would have to actually drop off the resupply at OV personally. We can mail to MTR & RM. *Will need to make sure it's still ok to drop resupply at OV...
85
Hiking NOBO, there are a few places that we will camp at the first few nights which has bear boxes, so if all of our food can't fit in our bear cans we can still store some in those bear boxes...
86
Will need to make reservations at OV CG and HSM CG (Possibly RM CG, TM CG, and likely other campsites in Yosemite...?)
87
88
89
90
Cottonwood Lakes Trail:
91
22.5 miles to Crabtree & is considered more difficult (d/t elevation), yet more scenic...
92
93
Cottonwood Pass Trail:
94
20.4 miles to Cabtree and is considered easier than Cottonwood Lakes Trail...
