The MSc Mental Health Research Programme aims to develop your knowledge, skills and experience in the field of mental health research. You will study a number of core modules designed to introduce you to common concepts and approaches in mental health research and practice, and you will develop the research skills you will need to succeed in this field. Whether you choose to go on to further study, research or clinical practice, you will graduate as a critically reflective practitioner, able to make informed judgements based on sound analysis, often within unpredictable circumstances. You will have the opportunity to conduct your own independent research during the course, and you will be encouraged to publish and share your research findings. Throughout the programme you will be supported by experts in the field who are actively engaged in research focused on mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and psychosis and during your time at York, you will be part of a leading UK centre for mental health research. Graduates will be confident to make a difference to the lives of people affected by mental health problems and addictions both directly and through the development of new knowledge. Postgraduate Diploma in Mental Health Research: This programme aims to develop your knowledge and experience in the field of mental health research. Focusing on both research and practice, you will study a number of core modules designed to introduce you to common concepts and approaches in mental health research. You will develop the research skills you will need to succeed, whether you choose to go on to further study, research or clinical practice. The programme's integration of theory and research with practice means you will graduate from the programme as a clinically reflective practitioner and graduates will be confident to make a difference to the lives of people affected by mental health problems and addiction. Throughout the programme you will be supported by experts who are actively engaged in research focused on the care of people with addictions or mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and psychosis, as well as prevention. You will be supported to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of core concepts in mental health and addiction by experts in the field as part of a leading UK centre for mental health research.

72
3Critically examine the research process including ethics, data protection and clinical governance procedures with specific consideration of the complexities associated with research in mental health and addiction.
73
4Critically discuss research design, methods and approaches to analysis, both quantitative and qualitative within the field of mental health and/or addictions research.
74
5Demonstrate synthesis in the interpretation of findings, drawing conclusions that add to the existing knowledge base.
