Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives
University of Central Florida
Leading as a Hispanic Serving InstitutionThere are currently 571 Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the United States,
and that number is expected to increase with the growth of Hispanic Serving
School Districts (HSSDs) in the K-12 educational system. This continued expansion
calls for Hispanic/Latino/a/e/x and all education leaders to lean into what it means to
serve with intention for true impact. The University of Central Florida (UCF) is proud to
be one of only 28 HSIs in the U.S. to be certified with the Seal of Excelencia for
demonstrated alignment in data, practice, and leadership, in serving Latino students.
Operating proactively through an intentional lens, resulted in $5.7 Million in Title V funding
for project POTENCIAL (Promoting Opportunities that Enhance Navigation, Completion,
Inclusion and Learning) and ENFERMERIA (Educating Nurses for Engagement,
Research, Mentoring Excellence & Reinforcing Interpretation Access). Join this
session to gain a better sense of the realities and strategies for activating servingness
and living up to nuestro propósito.

Sustaining Trust
There are some things that can not be bought with a title, knowledge, or money. Like trust. A person's
most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a heart ready to serve, and listen with a hand
willing to help. Sustaining trust with those around you at work, at home, and in your everyday life will
be the most valuable lesson learned to establish a lifetime of rewards and strong sustainable connections.
This presentation will provide a small introduction as to "why" becoming a servant with an intention to
serve is critical to leading.

Accessibility & Equitability in Cambridge Assessments
Traditionally, when you hear the term ‘accessibility’ in education, you might think about
accommodations for students with disabilities and English Learners. Cambridge Assessment
focuses on the broader definition of ‘access' – a means of entering a place; the ability to make
use of something to improve learning for all students.  The following presentation highlights how
Cambridge Assessment focuses explicitly on developing assessments that are equitable and
accessible for all student learners through test design, creation, and scoring approaches that
are innovative and unique to US education and fundamentally improve performance for all
students.
