3 | Dr. Cyndia Morales Muñiz Senior Director Hispanic Serving Institution Initiatives University of Central Florida | Leading as a Hispanic Serving Institution | There are currently 571 Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the United States, and that number is expected to increase with the growth of Hispanic Serving School Districts (HSSDs) in the K-12 educational system. This continued expansion calls for Hispanic/Latino/a/e/x and all education leaders to lean into what it means to serve with intention for true impact. The University of Central Florida (UCF) is proud to be one of only 28 HSIs in the U.S. to be certified with the Seal of Excelencia for demonstrated alignment in data, practice, and leadership, in serving Latino students. Operating proactively through an intentional lens, resulted in $5.7 Million in Title V funding for project POTENCIAL (Promoting Opportunities that Enhance Navigation, Completion, Inclusion and Learning) and ENFERMERIA (Educating Nurses for Engagement, Research, Mentoring Excellence & Reinforcing Interpretation Access). Join this session to gain a better sense of the realities and strategies for activating servingness and living up to nuestro propósito. | 220 | |||||||||||||||||||||||
