This is copied from Google's original "Apartment Tab" spreadsheet. I have changed the names in my version and added a fourth housemate. This spreadsheet is designed to help manage the sharing of expenses that are common among roommates. The "Tab" page allows each roommate to keep track of how much money is owed to him by the other roommates. The "Expenses" tabs allow the roommates to enter expenses they have incurred that should be shared by other residents of the apartment. The "Payments" tabs allow roommates to record payments they have made to other roommates. Looking through the "Expenses" tabs of this template, you will see that Larry pays the rent and a Movie rental by mail service while Curly pays all the utilities. Curly pays Larry the difference between his share of the rent and Larry's share of the utilities. Moe simply makes payments to Larry and Curly to cover his share of their expenses.

The two grids below show how much money is owed among the three roommates (Moe, Larry, Curly). The top grid shows how much money each roommate owes each other roommate. The bottom grid show how much money each roommate must pay each other roommate in order to cover their expenses.

For example, from the top grid we see that Curly currently owes $705.67 to Larry, and Larry owes $65.75 to Curly. In order for them to be even Curly needs to pay Larry $639.94. This value is shown in the second grid.
