Purpose of this Document

Tool to help visualise 'how governance could be' for the coop. An overview of the structure and relationships between the roles, bodies, committees and working groups in the coop

Spirit of Coop governance is that this done collectively, collaboratively and that members step up to have a role in defining 'how we do things round here'. Accordingly, this is intended as a tool to help that collaboration. It's not 'imposed' by anyone, but should be 'owned' by Governence Committee on belalf of the membership.

ScopeHigh level. Not intended to work at the level of day to day individual accountabilities. Focus is on main accountabilities - help to spot overlaps / gaps / conflicts and outline (not detail) the working relationships between bodies.

Introduction (this sheet) - basic read.me type material

Roles - spreadsheet matrix with columns for each of the key roles/bodies/committees in the coop. The first set of rows provides further descriptive detail (attributes) of each role/body/committee. A further set of rows contain the relationships (or 'contracts') between these roles/bodies/committees - implying directional flow and/or control. For example: Board 2 Nom Cttee: the board instructs nominations committee to collect nominations for board vacancies. Nom Cttee 2 Board: Nom Cttee in due course provides names of 1) screened nominees 2) elected candidates.
