4 | Beni kawa | Beni kawa - A newer Coral Bark Japanese maple, vase-shaped, to 12 feet. Leaves are small and green with orange in spring. Bark is bright red in cold sunny weather. Long lasting yellow with red or burnt orange colors in the fall. Beautiful in all four seasons. Likes consistent moisture and good drainage. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | Fireglow | Fireglow - This outstanding cultivar is an upright spreading red leaf Japanese maple that holds its red color in the heat. Slow growing to 10 to 12 feet with an equal spread and a graceful habit. Brilliant scarlet in the fall. Needs protection from more than 2 hours of hot afternoon sun and also does well in shade. 6 | Ginkgo Saratoga | Ginkgo 'Saratoga' - A slow-growing pyramidal tree with brilliant yellow fall color. The leaves are elongated and pendulous, providing a much bolder texture than other varieties. Could eventually grow to 30’ tall and 15’ wide after a decade or two. Grows well in sun or partial shade. Requires well-drained soil with consistent moisture. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
7 | Hanami nishiki | Hanami nishiki - A very special dwarf tree with tiny leaves that emerge light green in the spring and turn to beautiful golds, oranges and reds in the fall. Densly twiggy and shrub-like, growing to about 4 feet tall and wide in ten years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
8 | Inaba shidare | Inaba shidare - Similar to Crimson Queen (but can take the sun better), with a more weeping habit. Has delicate, lacy leaves and gorgeous bronze colors in August, or sooner if grown in shade. Grows to 7 feet tall by 12 feet wide after twenty years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
9 | Katsura hime | Katsura hime - A lovely dwarf tree with vivid yellow orange leaves emerging in the spring. The leaves turn a pretty light green for the summer and then in the fall the tree is covered in bright yellows and oranges. Ten year height will be about six feet. 10 | Koto hime | Koto hime - A dwarf deciduous shrub with a dense rounded form to 3’ x 3’ after 10 years. Commonly used in bonsai. Tiny green leaves emerging in spring have a border of pinkish orange-red on their margins. Fall color is yellow to orange. Prefers partial to full shade. 13 | Mystic Jewel | Acer Palmatum 'Mystic Jewel' is a robust tree with unique colors, leafing out in the spring with bright orange, then turning a gray-green in the summer. The fall color is a delightful purple-red. This is a rare and hard-to-find tree that may reach a height of 10 feet in ten years. 14 | Nanyat | Nanyat - An upright growing dwarf Japanese maple, maturing at 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide after many years. Small, curling leaves and bright-green bark make this tree quite unique. 15 | Orangeola | Orangeola - Greenish blue-green summer color; nice orange-red in spring; brilliant ruby red to red-orange fall color that can last longer than most; easy to grow; dense growing habit. 17 | Red Emperor | Red Emperor - An upright and spreading red leaf Japanese maple maturing at 15 feet tall and wide. This new variety grows faster, is hardier and more sun tolerant, and retains its red color better than all the other large red leaf varieties. 18 | Sango kaku | Sango Kaku - The Coral Bark Maple is a very popular four-season plant. Brilliant coral red bark in winter (needs the cold and the sun for the brightest red bark color), with a very attractive long-lasting bright fall color of yellow, red and apricot. 19 | Seedling Acer Palmatum | Japanese Maple Seedling - The perfect Japanese maple for the novice, this tree is easy to grow, sun and heat tolerant, and has a beautiful layered habit. Brilliant orange, red and gold fall colors. These trees are seed-grown rather than grafted, and can grow rather quickly to 12-15 feet tall and wide. Many of the prettiest Japanese Maples in the famous Fort Worth Japanese Garden are Seedlings. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
20 | Seiryu | Seiryu - A rare upright growing, lace leaf Japanese maple maturing at 12–18 feet tall and wide. The yellow-green spring leaves are finely cut and small and become darker in summer. 21 | Sekka yatsubusa | Sekka yatsubusa - An upright green semi-dwarf ultimately reaching 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide with vivid red-orange fall color.
