Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
at fafsa.gov to apply for federal, state and college-based financial aid.
Dependent students must incldue both student and parent data on the FAFSA.

***Before you can complete the FAFSA, you will need to create an FSA ID (scroll down for instructions).
One of the two parents/legal guardians of the student
AND your student will need an FSA ID.

How To Create An FSA ID

The FSA ID (Federal Student Aid ID) is a username and password you create to access
the FAFSA and federal loan websites. It will also serve as your signature for the FAFSA and
federal student loans.

Follow these steps to get your FSA ID. If you're a dependent student, you and a parent will each need one.

1. Go to fsaid.ed.gov before you start your FAFSA.
*Provide your email address and create an username and password. Print this page.
Both you and a parent will need active email accounts. Don't use a high school emial account.

2. Enter personal information.
*Name, Social Security Number, date of birth
*Mailing address, email address, mobile phone number

3. Answer challenge questions. Select answers that are easy to remember and won't change over time.

4. Submit your FSA ID information and verify your email address and mobile phone number with the assigned
security code.

5. You can now use your FSA ID to sign the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

If selected for verification, you may need to upload verified income tax informatin using the IRS Data Retrieval
process. You may also want to add or delete colleges, or make other changes.

Updating your FAFSA using IRS Data Retrieval

1. Go to FAFSA.gov and click on "Login."
Enter student's FSA ID.

2. Click on "Make a FAFSA Correction."

3. Continue to: Parent FInancial Information."
*Under "IRS Data Retrieval," select "parent 1 or "parent 2" and enter the parent's FSA ID. Click on "Link to IRS."
*Enter the address and tax filing status exactly as it appears on the tax form. Click on "Submit."
*Select "Transfer My Tax Information to the FAFSA" and click on "Transfer Now."
*Transferred information will be identified on the FAFSA. DO NOT change any of that data.

4. Go to the "Student Financial Information" screen.
*Under "IRS Data Retrieval," enter the student's FSA ID and click on "Link to IRS."
*Enter the address and tax filing status exactly as it appears on the student's tax form. Click on "Submit."
*Select "Transfer My Tax Information to the FAFSA" and click on"Transfer Now."
*Transferred information will be identified on the FAFSA. DO NOT change any of that data.

5. Continue through the screens and select "Submit."

6. Watch for an updated Student Aid Report after your changes are processed.

Adding or Deleting Colleges

1. Go to FAFSA.gov and click on "Login." Enter Student's FSA ID.

2. Click on "Make a FAFSA Correction."

3. Click on the "School Selection" tab.

4. Search for colleges by state or school code. If you add a colelge, select a housing plan.

5. Continue through the screens and then select "Submit."

6. Watch for an updated Student Aid Report after your changes are processed.

Making Other Changes

1. Go to FAFSA.gov and click on "Login." Enter student's FSA ID.

2. Click on "Make a FAFSA Correction."

3. Click on the appropriate tab.

4. Change the information as needed.

5. Continue through the screens and then select "Submit."

6. Watch for an updated Student Aid Report after your changes are processed.
