1. Setup tab

📍 Go to the "Setup" tab. In the designated fields in grey, write out:
Red: Every fixed expense
Green: Categories for your non-fixed expenses (e.g. groceries, eating out, leisure, medical, toiletries, etc.)
Yellow: Your names
Blue: Payment methods you often use

2. Subscriptions tab

Inside the "Subscriptions" tab, list all monthly, bi-monthly, yearly, or whatever-ly recurring subscriptions. Fill out all the fields for easier later reference and management. Remember to include app subscriptions. Check your inbox. Also go to App Store > Account > Subscriptions. While you're here, cancel any subscriptions you're not using or don't need anymore.

3. Overview tab

Income. Inside the "Overview" tab, fill out your fixed salaries inside the grey boxes in fields B2, B2, and B6. Do not touch anything else, as this is calculated automatically.

Fixed expenses. Still in the "Overview" tab, move down to the fixed expenses section. Per expense, fill out how much you pay per month in the grey fields in range B11-B30. Done. Do not touch anything else. Your contributions to the shared bills are calculated automatically as you start tracking in the monthly tabs.

Non-fixed expenses. Only touch fields in the budget column. The column "Diff." right next to it will turn either red or green automatically depending on whether your spending is within budget. The other fields will calculate the totals automatically as you track your expenses in the monthly tabs.

Savings. Set a savings goal in the fields below "Savings goal." The adjacent column will tell you with a simple "yes" or "no" whether you hit this goal.

4. Monthly tabs

Fill out every non-fixed expense you make on a new row. Do the same for every contribution to shared fixed costs. Make sure to fill out all fields. Want to add more than one expense per day? Simply add in a new row.

5. Freelancing tabs

Are you freelancing? Track your project income and invoicing separately on the tab "Freelancing." There is one tab for both of you. The total amount earned will show up on the Overview tab in the earnings section automatically.

📍 Want a different date format in the monthly tabs? Per monthly tab (e.g. "jan '22), select column A. In the menu bar, click "Format" > "Number" > and choose your preferred format. Repeat for the other tabs. Don't immediately see your preferred format? Click on "More formats" at the botton for more options.
