E.g. Treating a deep bleeding wound, a fracture, poisonous bite or CPR?

LOW / MED / HIGH
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
How essential do you think it is to have first aid instructions accessible to you at all times?

Essential
Nice to have
Dispensable
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
If you wanted to access first aid information right now, what would be your preferred method out of these options?

Printed Material like a first aid book
A website (Requires Internet)
An app on your mobile phone (Works Offline)
A document saved on your computer/mobile
Other (specify)
If you had no reception and wanted to access first aid information, what would be your preferred method? What would you prefer and why?

a) A First Aid App that you can USE DURING an emergency

b) A First Aid App that helps you LEARN & BE READY FOR an emergency
Would you find it useful to have a First Aid App with emergency information and instructions on it?

Why
In an emergency where you need to administer first aid, are you more likely to:

ACT FIRST
or
LOOK UP INSTRUCTIONS FIRST?

Why?
PICTURE THIS: You have a First Aid App on your phone. You're out walking with a friend who suddenly trips and falls badly. They are in extreme pain. They have a deep bleeding wound, and they tell you their arm feels broken. They need immediate first aid.

The nearest ambulance is 10 MINS AWAY. Would you refer to the first aid app? If so, at which point?
SAME SCENARIO: You have a First Aid App on your phone. You're out walking with a friend who suddenly trips and falls badly. They are in extreme pain. They have a deep bleeding wound, and they tell you their arm feels broken. They need immediate first aid.

The nearest ambulance is 30 MINS AWAY. Would you refer to the first aid app, and when?
FINAL SCENARIO WITH YOUR CLUMSY FRIEND! You have a First Aid App on your phone. You're out walking with a friend who suddenly trips and falls badly. They are in extreme pain. They have a deep bleeding wound and they tell you their arm feels broken. They need immediate first aid.

You DO NOT have phone reception. Would you refer to the first aid app, and when?
EXPLORE:
USE DURING emergency
vs.
LEARN & BE READY FOR an emergency?

It seems people would ACT based on past experience, so is it more useful LEARN & BE READY vs USE DURING? WHY?

When understanding first aid, what's the most essential type of instructions formats;
Text, still images, GIF, Video, Audio

Why?
RATE:
1 (Completely Uninterested)
5 (I would download it now!)

How interested would you be in a free app that helped improve your first aid knowledge?

What if the app taught first aid using fun games, which allowed you to earn "first aid badges" and complete mini first aid courses?

1 (Completely Uninterested)
5 (I would download it now!)
What if completing first aid tests allowed you to "Earn" points which you could redeem for real life products?

JB HiFi, BCF, Woolies, Wine, Gift Cards or Donate To Charities

5 (I would download it now!)
What else could we include in the app to encourage people to want to learn first aid?

non-binary18-29More than OneYesNoYesNoLow confidence - you know the very basics onlyEssential, a must have itemMobile device (either call someone or look up Google)An app on your mobile phone (Works Offline)A First Aid App that you can USE DURING an emergencyYesact first - because it's important to take action. it would be a waste of time to look up when a person needs help. I have 10 mins.. i will do everything to make them comfortable / apply some first aid. Possibly might refer to it after I feel things are a bit more comfortable, but not before. act first / refer afteract first / refer after.
i challenged them on this.. after they said initially they wanted an emergency app and they agreed. they said emergency is needed app

in what situations would you refer first?

in all situations, you're calling for help / and taking action first.
epipen
anaphalytic fits / seisure
Text + video + gifs1 - i'm not downloading an app unless there is an incentive (e.g. sweat coin gives you crypto for walking) 3.
something like Duolingo would be cool.. e.g. give me first aid scenarios and challenge me on how I would you fix it. i'm not downloading the app to play games so the social aspect is not that interesting to me, but interactive quizzes would be good.
5.
Yes.. exchange it for gift - check out sweatcoin. If there were good retailers on onboard (e.g. freddys fishing world, JB, gym gear etc etc / donate to charity options) I would download it now. to engage younger generation you need strong incentives to learn. learning first aid is not enough

KarenFemale 30-49NoneYesYesYesNoLow - don't like blood.. but if I have to do it I gotta do itNice to have - because I don't use it all the time. I know I should have it but .. An app because it works offline
An app Use During;
Because I won't spend my spare time reading about FA. But I might read after the fact
Yes;

In case something I didn't know or was unsure about..
would help me feel more confident. although if it was urgent, i'd call 000.
Depending on severity.. i'd feel more confident with 000 instructions vs an app.. e.g. during a heart attack.

I don't feel as supported with an app vs a person
Depends on severity.. but in general in an emergency I would ACT FIRST because time is of the essence when some needs help NOW.

I might refer to FA info after things have settled down
Take action:
I would try to stop the bleeding
I'd call 000 and get instructions over the ph.

I might refer while we were waiting
I'd do the same thing.. and might refer to it while waitingSame actions.. if cannot get through to 000, I would refer to the app.

More likely to use the app in the downtime
Having it there gives me a safety net in case I need it. Text + still images

Easy to read text
An image to show anything specific to see something, e.g. CPR recovery position
2
Because not in the forefront of my attention.. didn't think about it. We don't often talk about first aid with people.. not a topic of conversation. But it is a good idea.
2
As an adult, i'm not that interested in playing first aid games..

Not that interested in badges
If I want to play a game, I want to zone out and be entertained.
3
That would be pretty cool.. more interested
No

If someone is having a heart attack I probably wouldn't go on the app, i'd call the ambulanceall of them - you might not understand one way but you might understand the instructions another way3 - would be good to learn more about first aid but not sure if i would actually use it to learn3 - same reasoning4 - but that would probably never happencertified course?

Achieve the "top ranking/gold" and they could get something out of it.

DanMale30-492Had to do itYesNoYesNoLowNice to haveGoogle search / YoutubeScreenshots on my phone.. I wouldn't prepare for thatLearn and be readyNo. I would prefer to go to youtube. Act first - I need to help with the emergency. Every second counts. If I was a bystander I might look up infoAfter I've sorted the bleeding and the person is comfortable I might pull the app out. same actionsame actions would still happen. It's about being prepared. That is important to me. I own a "Go bag" in case of serious emergencyVideo, then text - because when I think of medical, I want to see techniques. A video format shows me this. A Gif in conjunction with text. Not high on my priority list. I don't have one now. It's not on my mindI don't have an interest in games. It cheapens the content. I want scenario based infoI would be interested on discount codes to use in the Survival shopSurvival scenarios make it real for me.. telling me about real-life scenarios. Partner with people who are not talking about first aid.. influencers. tackling FA head on is dry and boring. Take the guesswork out for me, tell me what kind of kit I need and show it to me in context of a real life scenario.

Videos on How to use the KITS - how to get the most out of this kit.
