Beaver Pond - Girdwood TrailWED10/20/219:30 AMMeet at Carrs Huffman parking lot, row F by 9:30 am for a head count, carpooling for those interested; the plan is to depart from Carrs Huffman by 9:45 am. Dress for the weather, bring bear spray, lunch/beverage and be prepared for slippery conditions if there has been a lot of rain - as of 10/14 the trail is in good shape; the hike will be a 6 mi. RT, 'out-and back' adventure. From a hiking guide: "This trail is best taken north to south, starting just before the California Creek bridge on Crow Creek Road. Head west and parallel California Creek as you climb the hill, staying left at the top and heading SW. There are some short and steep climbs along the trail, but overall you descend a couple hundred feet to the paved Gird-Bird Trail. The trail can get overgrown with pushki so long sleeves and tall socks might make it a little more comfortable". https://www.hikingproject.com/directory/8006878/girdwood Please RSVP.Barbara Weil: weilb@gci.net

Campbell Canyon LoopWED11/17/2021see hike description Be prepared for sub zero temps at the start. There will be 2 options for the hike. A shorter and perhaps wiser hike of about 2-2 1/2 hours or a longer loop of about 4. Normally it would be 3 1/2 but I don't know snow depths and I believe the large amount of overflow and a creek to be crossed may not be frozen even with the cold temps. I know there are folks interested in both options so no one would go alone.

We are meeting and want to be ready to go at 1015 am at Hilltop (and Ken possibly at N. Bivouac at 1045). Given the expected cold, we will not stand around but get moving quickly and do intros, photos once we are a bit warmed up.

If you text me after 10 am, no guarantee I will respond. It's going to be too cold to grab the phone. Thanks for your understanding. Judy Caminer 907-227-4125
