7/15/20145 hoursGetting started on my first day of mentorship as a Psychiatric Technician was quite exciting as soon as I got there the class and I were instructed to go to the skills lab where we then learned how to check for placement of the gastrointestianal tube then checked for residual and after I learned how to administer medications and feedings. 5 hours

7/22/20145 hoursOn my second day of mentorship we had a lecture on Sexuality, Fertility, and Sexually Transmitted Infections. After three hours of lecture we went into the skills lab where we had to prepare a patient for their first pelvic exam then assist the nurse practitioner in collecting a Pap Smear.10 hours

7/29/20144 hoursOn my third day we went over Emergency Preparedness and the main focus was how to perform triage and care for triage patients. We also practiced major disasters by classifying patients according to their priority of needs. 14 hours

11/11/20148 hours 32 minThe newly added eight hours of service consisted of the Nami event that the class and I participated in, the fundraiser included all the Nami organizations of Southern California and all of the corresponding presidents. As I arrived we had to check-in to the event then after i had to go to the San Gabriel Valley both and assist in passing out information which is where I met Mr. Encinas. After three hours of touring and distributing information the 2 mile walk around downtown Los Angeles began. After the crowded one and a half hour walk we returned to the booth where people began to tell their stories on stage then the rest of my time there consisted of handing out recognition to individuals and organizations and cleaning up.8 hours 32 min

1/6/20153 hours 5 minToday in class we learned how to properly perform ambulation with a gait belt which is often known as a CNA skill but as a PT, it's also a very important procedure for us to know. The second thing that we touched was the importance of vital signs and how to properly assess them in a patient.26 hours 59 min

3/17/20152 hours Today we didnt go to the skills lab like we normally do, instead we stayed in class and learned about the ethical duty of any nurse involving the reporting of elder and dependent adult abuse in a facility and us becoming mandated reporters of any type of abuse.47 hours 1 min
