SavingsFoodInstructions:

1. Place joint expenses in columns G and H. Feel free to customize, just keep them in these columns. They'll total at the bottom.

2. Place what you make in the green area under weekly (C5 and E5). If you're paid bi-weekly, cut the number in half. Use after tax figures - this is the money you actually have in your hand. The pay ratio should populate in the orange area. For example, if your pay ratio is 60%, it means that you make 60% of the total money in the marriage and will contribute accordingly.

3. Your 'weekly owed' figure will populate. This states what you 'owe' to the joint account to pay all the shared bills.

4. If you want, fill in your weekly expense numbers for personal items under columns B-E. This will help you understand how much money you have left over, if your expenses are realistic, etc. Note that ending up with 0 isn't necessarily bad, if all your money is allocated where you want it.

Bonus: If you want to get a bit more complicated you can make your retirement savings "pre-joint". This means that savings gets deducted before you put your figure in the green box. This lowers your pay ratio and gives you an incentive within the marriage to save for retirement.
