This is the unique id of every entry in reflex. This field should not be modified. If you think that two entries should become one, mark them and we will discuss.

identical number of entry (for polysemous words)

If a word has multiple senses (usually noted as 1, 2, or I, II etc in dictionaries), it is entered as multiple connected entries in RefLex, one for each meaning. In this field you should put an identical number for all entries of a polysemous word, so they are understood as linked (the easiest way to do that is to copy the id_number of one of the meanings in this field for all the meanings of the same word). e.g. if a word means both big and chief, there will be two identical entries (except for the translation fields) and they should have the same number in the ORP field.

order of meaning (for polysemous words)

This is the order of meanings for a polysemous word (i.e. which meaning is listed first, which second etc). If the source doesn't give an order, then you can put any order you like.

Traduction Originale

IMPORTANT: Everything that is between parentheses in the spreadsheet goes in this field. Every entry in this field needs to be read carefully and sorted. It can contain a variety of information, including original translations, comments of the author, comments of the compiler, a mix etc.

Traduction Unifié en Anglais

IMPORTANT: If the English translation contains more than one words (that are not a further explanation), such as the row saying gourd, squash, pumpkin, verify always the original translation in the source and put it in the TRA field. Also, if the English translation is followed by @, then the original translation must be filled, and the Unified English translation probably needs to be updated. Ask me about what unified translation to give in those cases.

Commentaire de saisie

This field contains the comments of the compiler. This includes comments usually preceded or followed by the initials of one person of our research team. You can also provide your comments as you will be verifying entries in sources. Ideally we would like to preserve these comments with the indication of who said what, but we probably need to condense them in some cases. IMPORTANT: Probably the most common indication in this field is notes of the form keep: form. Please delete those notes altogether.

This field contains comments by the author of the original source. Here can go examples or other information that help us understand the meaning of a word, etymological notes etc.

Borrowing:Original Language for borrowing

This is the language from which the word was borrowed. Put any information the author gives, name of the language, group of languages, language family etc. If the source says it is a borrowing without any other explanation, put an x in this field and leave all other fileds empty. e.g. dipã is a French loan in Wayampi. You would put French in this field.

Borrowing: Original form that was borrowed

This is the form that was borrowed in the original language it was borrowed from. e. g. for dipã you would put: du pain.

Borrowing: Original Translation of borrowing

This is what the loan means in the source language. e.g. for dipã you would put: bread. Try to put this translation field in English.

Borrowing:Original Language for borrowing

Identical to EML (auteur) but for borrowings that were identified by a member of the research team.

Borrowing: Original form that was borrowed

Identical to EMF (auteur) but for borrowings that were identified by a member of the research team.

Borrowing: Original Translation of borrowing

Identical to EMT (auteur) but for borrowings that were identified by a member of the research team.

Categorie Grammaticale

Here you can put information such as verb, noun, adverb etc if the source gives it. IMPORTANT: many times this information will be between parentheses in the original spreadsheet, and therefore in the TRA field here.

Use this field if there is another kind of information that is at least semi-systematically given in the source, and doesn't seem to fit anywhere else. Please ask me first if you think we need to make use of this field.
