Important: This document is public! Do not include any confidential or internal information when updating the
DBtab. If you have an unconfirmed external speaker in mind, just enter "Block" for that spot on the schedule.
4
The DB tab is the single source of truth for PLSE lunch talks.
5
Add, update, or remove speakers or topics from the schedule by editing the relevant row in the DB tab.
6
To start a new quarter, add rows at the top. A warning may appear, since you're editing protected columns (B and M). Click through the warning, then copy Column B's formula into the new row to populate it.
7
Conditional formatting rules will automatically color the row according to which quarter it falls in (orange = autumn, blue = winter, green = spring, yellow = summer).
8
The seasons are defined as: Winter 1/1 - 3/15; Spring 3/15 - 6/15; Summer 6/15 - 9/15; Winter 9/15 - 12/31. These dates can be changed in the conditional formatting rules for the DB tab.
9
Data validation rules will trigger a warning if the dates in column A are not Tuesdays.
10
Column B is computed from Column A and should not be edited directly (except when making a new row).
11
Column M is populated by the Apps Script code and should not be edited directly (except when making a new row).
12
When you are finished making changes to the DB tab, click PLSE Talks Calendar > Update Calendar Events from the menu bar. This will run Apps Script code to fill in the event descriptions for all of the PLRG calendar events in the PLSE calendar. If you do not have the right permissions to run the script, contact Alexandra.
13
14
Slack automation runs from the SlackVars tab, which is computed from DB. It cannot be edited directly.
15
PLSE Talks Schedule exists purely as a more-readable quarter view of the schedule. It cannot be edited directly.
16
17
The PLSE Talks Schedule tab shows the talks schedule for a given quarter, computed from the DB tab. Change the view by changing the quarter/year in the dropdown menus. No other changes to this sheet are permitted.

If you encounter any issues with this sheet, or have comments/suggestions/feedback/ideas, please contact the current PLSE Talks chair.
