The only option if I actually want hardware acceleration to work on my client. Web UI sucks because there is such broken acceleration. Love MPV shim for having strong support for decoding.

The simple answer is that I watch most of my media with a slight speedup and had that enabled in MPV so it's automatically done.

More than that, MPV handles audio better than FF, and I'm familiar with it as a media player.

I cast to the Shim from Firefox on Windows. Shim is not able to see external subtitles. I need to (on Firefox) click on the currently playing bar at the bottom of the browser which takes me to a page with what is currently playing and a time line with play buttons. I want to play videos through my pc with the ability to use database features of jellyfin. Tried kodi and did not like the inability to switch on the fly between full-strength and windowed view, something which just works as expected with mpv shim for jellyfin.

I tried to use the video profiles ("shader packs") but then it did not launch mpv, I just manually set it myself to use the shaders since that's what I have been using before the shader packs feature came along. Apart from that, MPV Shim has been a blessing for me. Thank you so much for making this! :)

Sometimes it's just a hassle for me to quit and then run the shim again whenever I'm changing some settings in the mpv.conf file. Other than that, it's been okay so far. :)

The built-in shader packs feature is not working for me so I had to just manually set the shaders from within mpv.conf.

I'd actually like to report an issue whenever I encounter one but I'd rather do it on discord since most of the time I'm using discord as a way of communicating. So idk, maybe if it's possible to have a discord server for MPV Shim? So that whenever someone needs help, other people would help into solving the issue.

manjaro is annoying regarding starting up ethernet at boot, it would be great if mpv shm failed more gracefully if there is no network interface, instead of asking for server credentials it just waited till there was network.

Highly disagree on content over 10mbps defaulting to trying to transcode, as I have video transcoding disabled it mainly just causes subtitles to not work (no idea why). Bit of a PITA having to guide my friends and family to change the setting.

Malwarebytes once registered MPV Shim as spyware (this was version 1.5.9 I believe) but I just assumed it was something I did, although I'm fairly tech savvy and don't recall ever installing malicious programs (don't dabble in software piracy, usually verify checksums etc) but I wasn't worried because the only IP I whitelist for MPV Shim is access to my local Jellyfin server. I wiped the computer so I never took screenshots or investigated it further but still something to note I guess. Thats the only time it's happened though, my current installations have not been reported as spyware or anything.

yes the option to change remote transcode quality to maximum in the settings menu without having to change it through the config file. Would make it easier to intruduce mpv shim to friends while still avoiding transcoding or to have to give a lot of instructions of how to change it in the config file.

Because MPV's HDR tone mapping is way better than VLC's and MPV doesn't have DLNA builtin.
