2 | UHN Summer Training and Research Program | The UHN Summer Training Program is offered by the Office of Research Trainees (ORT). This program invites all UHN research summer students to attend a series of virtual learning sessions to help them develop critical research skills and explore their career options. UHN Summer Students will also have the opportunity to share their summer research with the UHN Research Community at the ORT Research Day. UHN Research Summer Students that attend learning sessions and present at Research Day will be presented with a certificate of program completion. | Available to all students performing summer research at the University Health Network. | Once securing a supervisor, students must complete the ORT Registration Form to sign up for the summer educational program. | ||||||||||||||||||||
3 | UHN Centre for Mental Health's MIND HIVE Summer Research Program | The MIND Hive Summer Research Program (MSRP) provides an opportunity for trainees carrying out research with UHN’s Centre for Mental Health to participate in a 12-week research program including orientation, social and networking events, regular seminars, and an end-of-summer showcase of research presentations. The goal of the program is to generate student confidence and interest in mental health research, enhance students’ summer research experience with their supervisors, and form a growing community of researchers with the Centre for Mental Health. | Available to all undergraduate, graduate, and medical students (paid or unpaid) conducting activities with the Centre for Mental Health from May to August 2023. 4 | Cancer 360+ Program | The 2023 Cancer 360+ Summer Program refers to a blended learning opportunity for any student interested in extending their knowledge of cancer and cancer related topics. Over ten weeks, course participants complete online learning modules, and participate in weekly discussion sessions with professionals. Upon completion, participants earn a certificate of completion. | Available to any student currently completing a summer placement at UHN, or participating in the UHN Summer Research and Training (STAR) program. | |||||||||||||||||||||
5 | UHN Women's Health Program Summer Studentship Program | Beginning in 2022, the UHN Women's Health Program will hold a summer studentship competition open to health sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, and public health undergraduate students, medical students and students enrolled in course-based graduate programs. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with UHN Women's Health Program. | Once securing a supervisor, students must complete a program application. | ||||||||||||||||||||
6 | University of Toronto Charles Hollenberg Summer Studentship Program | The goal of the program is to introduce undergraduate and medical students to the field of diabetes research and to encourage research in diabetes and its complications as a career. Fourteen summer studentships are available for undergraduate and medical students to carry out summer research in diabetes under the supervision of a member of the Banting & Best Diabetes Centre (BBDC). Research projects may be carried out in-lab, remotely, or a combination of both. Students will be required to work full-time for a minimum of 12 weeks between May 1 and August 31, 2023. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with the University of Toronto Banting & Best Diabetes Centre. | Once securing a supervisor, the student and supervisor must jointly complete an application form. | ||||||||||||||||||||
7 | University of Toronto Institute of Medical Science (IMS) Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) | The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) provides an opportunity for undergraduate B.Sc. and medical students (who do not hold a graduate degree) to become involved in projects relating to biomedical research. Projects range across a broad spectrum of disciplines, from molecular biology and cognitive science to clinical investigation and bioethics. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with the University of Toronto Institute of Medical Sciences. | Once securing a supervisor, the student must complete a SURP application form. | ||||||||||||||||||||
8 | University of Toronto Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Program (SURE) | The Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP) Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Program (SURE) provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to participate in a 12-week research program. The SURE program includes exciting lectures featuring biomedical research, career development seminars, and an opportunity to present your research. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with the University of Toronto Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology Department. | Once securing a supervisor, students must complete the SURE application form to apply to the program. | ||||||||||||||||||||
9 | University of Toronto Molecular Genetics Undergrad Summer Research Program | Molecular Genetics Summer Research program provides participants an opportunity to investigate questions of fundamental importance in molecular, cellular and development genetics. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with the University of Toronto Molecular Genetics Department. | Once securing a supervisor, students must complete the program application form. | ||||||||||||||||||||
10 | University of Toronto Temerty Centre for AI Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM) Summer Student Research Program | T-CAIREM is committed to funding the next generation of researchers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine. The goal of this program is to introduce undergraduate and medical students to AI research in health and encourage them to pursue careers that use AI to make biomedical discoveries, improve clinical care, and create better health outcomes. | Available to students with supervisors affiliated with the University of Toronto Temerty Centre for AI Research and Education in Medicine (T-CAIREM). | Once a supervisor is secured, the student must complete the program application form. | ||||||||||||||||||||
