A Demigod's Powers and You
20
21
I. The Basics
22
Here at CHBRP, your character has access to different powers based on your godrent. The powers you can have are spread across three (3) categories. These categories are based on which gods offer a power, and how often their kids have said power.
23
24
25
1) Domain powers are abilities observed across children of multiple gods, aligning typically with the
godrent's sphere of influence or divine origin.
26
27
For example, Demeter as the goddess of grain is an Agricultural god, along with Dionysus and Plutus.
But, she shares the Elder God domain with Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon as children of Kronos.
28
29
2) Godrent Minor powers are abilities commonly observed across children of one god. These powers
tend to have generalized applications.
30
31
For example, Demeter's children can control plants while many Poseidon kids can control the water.
32
3) Godrent Major powers are abilities rarely observed across children of one god. These powers tend
to have specialized applications.
33
34
For example, only a few children of Demeter can control temperature while others can have skin as
tough as bark.
35
36
All in all, your character can have seven (7) powers.
37
That's a lot of powers! We don't blame you if the sheer number of options are overwhelming. To help a bit with the choices and to familiarize you with the system, we recommend you pick three (3) domain powers, three (3) godrent minor powers, and one (1) godrent major power. We call this the 3:3:1 allocation.
38
39
40
But, if you're up for something more complex, you can have different ratios of powers! For example, you could have 4 domains and 2 minor powers (4:2:1), 1 domain and 5 minor powers (1:5:1), or even 6 domain power only (6:0:1).
41
42
43
You're also free to leave some of your power slots blank, especially if you're not sure about a power yet. Just make sure to let the mod team know of any changes to your power set.
44
45
The only requirement here is that you have no more than one (1) godrent major power, no matter the allocation.
46
47
SPECIAL CASE: You may encounter some characters have two (2) major powers. These characters were created before the power system (in its current version) was created, so some of their powers may have just moved into the major category.
48
49
50
Your character may also have things called innate traits. You don't have to worry about these for now. We'll discuss it more in the ADVANCED GUIDE.
51
52
II. Other Notes
53
While all of the powers on this sheet are fair game (provided that the power is available to your character's godrent), some powers require special approval from the mod team.
54
55
MM PowersIf a power is tagged modmail (mm), it is considered rare—even among the major powers. They tend to be very powerful manifestations of a god's might. They may also be a power that varies very differently from person to person.
56
57
58
We require a pitch through modmail to a) limit the number of characters who have these powers and b) to make sure the players who do have these powers know how to use them fairly.
59
60
61
Only a certain number of characters can have the same mm power at any given time. To see which ones are available, you can visit the MM POWER TRACKER.
62
63
For tips on modmailling, you can check out the FAQ page hereLink
64
Custom PowersAny power that is not on the list is custom. Many players come up with abilities that don't resemble an existing power, and others may have ideas for variations of a power that makes it very different.
65
66
67
Custom powers must be discussed with and approved by the mod team. Since there are hundreds of powers on the list, however, we will try to match your idea to an existing power.
68
69
70
Unlisted GodsAny god that is not on our list of godrents is considered unlisted, such as certain minor gods or gods with divine epithets. When it comes to children of these gods, there is more room for them to have custom powers.
71
72
73
When modmailing for an unlisted god, you may present ideas for custom godrent minor and major powers, in addition to up to two (2) domain categories.
74
75
As mentioned above, we will try to match your ideas to an existing godrent or power.
76
SPECIAL CASESLegacies do not have access to their ancestor godrent's powers.
77
Children of Hero-domain gods can have 1 power from their godrent's benefactor via the Divine Inheritance power.
78
79
Satyrs, nymphs, and hunters of Artemis are not unlisted because they have given power sets.
80
You can find more on legacies and divine epithets through the link here.Link
81
For all of the aboveYou can have a total of three (3) non-standard powers.
82
You can have two (2) modmail powers, with no room for further negotiation.
83
You can have three (3) custom powers. We will not approve custom domain
powers. (Variations of domain powers are okay.)
