I chose to integrate it so students are creating, writing, and speaking in Spanish. They are using past experiences and connecting them with what we are learning in class.
Autopsy of an Empire: Athens & Sparta
This will include low tech steps, but through the use of ThingLink, students will be able to upload and tag their low tech posters and supplement it with pictures, videos, audio, text and more!
|Gavin||Preston||Spanish||Profesor(a) por un día|
It is a teaching assignment for students, and as we know, tech helps us with student engagement and learning. It also teaches students to use educational technology to both learn and teach others
|Ashley||Worth||English||Oh my god!|
|Diversify the typical product that would be produced. Easier access to research/information. Sharing ability with peers.|
|Cristina||Milner||Science (Space)||Exoplanet Real Estate Project|
Students will be creating a website to showcase their research and learning. I chose this format because it can be collaborative between groups of 4 students.
No.1 It is UDL. The teacher can see every student's work on one page and students can see each other's too.
No.2 Chinese beginning learners can communicate by typing into pinyin to produce characters and words. It is a great stimulation for their interest in learning more.
Romeo and Juliet: Who's to Blame?
Within this specific unit, students normally do EVERYTHING on paper. They read and annotate on paper, they brainstorm and write on paper, and complete a final essay (all of which is hand written until their final draft). Although I will probably still have students complete the final essay assignment, I think this change to the unit allows students to work more collaboratively with their peers, as opposed to completing everything on their own. Additionally, because all of my students will be 1:1 next year, I think this will allow them to get used to using Google documents to work with classmates, but also figure out how to navigate other technology based websites on their own. Finally, using the thinglink activity, students are able to find videos to help supplement and explain the quotes they found within the text-- not only does this provide a fun visual, but it allows students, who may have trouble with Shakespeare's language to access the information in a different way.
