3		To be eligible for year end awards, each member must complete a minimum of 2 hours volunteer time. A friend or family member can volunteer on the member’s behalf, or they may opt to donate $100 to the club in lieu of volunteering. There are lots of opportunities to get those hours both at our shows and all year round in between shows. Don’t think that just because you have your hands full on show days that you can’t help out in a very meaningful way! If you can think of something you would like to do but do not see on this list do not hesitate to share! We are only as good as what we put into this awesome organization and every little bit helps! Let’s use your skills to make the 4CSCTA the very best it can be! We know that show day help can be a little intimidating at first, your board members are SO HAPPY to stick with you and help you learn these different show day jobs. We will make sure you are comfortable and having as much fun as we do 😊

5	Show Day Job Descriptions
6	Gate Steward:	The Gate Steward gets the opportunity to be the last one to say "good luck, you are going to be great!" to the competitors as they go in AND gets to be the first one to say "great job!" as they come out. The Gate person is critical to making sure that the show runs on time and smoothly. Duties of the gate include: Monitoring and announcing which competitors are "on deck" to go next and "in the hole" to go after, keeping track of who has done their test or course, making notes of scratches and/or adds, communicating scratches/adds with the office, and can help the judge and scribe by communicating competitor numbers and test or course. It sounds like a lot to keep track of, but it is easy once you have the gate sheet in front of you. Another important role for the gate is to help ensure competitors safety and a fair competitive environment by keeping the entrance to the ring clear of any looky-loos.
7	Ring Steward:	The Ring Steward holds another critical role in keeping the show running smoothly. The responsibilities include: moving the dressage ring fence as participants enter and exit, taking ribbons to the competitors for flat classes at jumping shows, transferring the completed dressage tests and jump placing sheets from the judge's stand to the office throughout the day, removing manure in the dressage arena or on the jump course and helping the gate person to keep the entrance to the ring clear.
8	Scribe:	This is where you get all the deets! Being a scribe is a hugely educational experience. The skills you need for this job are being a good listener, being a quick writer, and being able to be quiet while the judge does their thing. As a scribe you make notes of the judges comments as the competitors do their test or course, you help keep track of the competitor numbers and who is doing what test.
9	Office:	Wanna touch all the ribbons? Do you like calculators that make those printy sounds? We have a job for you. Helping in the office includes: adding up dressage scores, organizing ribbons for pick up, making sure that the correct competitor gets the correct ribbons, organizing the judge documents as they are received.

11	Non-Show Day Opportunities:
12		Selecting a venue, creating the invitation, collecting supplies and decorations, setting up before and cleaning up after, selecting and facilitating games/ ice brakers/ activities, creating photo slide show, etc
13		after the year end party our donations need to get to the right place
14		Keeping Instagram and Facebook up to date with show photos, sponsor shout outs, and fun horse or local related stuff throughout the year
15		Work within budget to pick awesome prizes for series winners, delivering/picking up prizes from various local businesses
16		Come up with and help orchestrate fun ideas for mounted games at everyone's favorite horse show!
17		If by laws are your jam, please help! They aren't ours…
18		Organize a day for some of us to meet and get those old sticks looking new again. Color combination ideas welcome!
19		Our venue fee at Tuxon Ranch has more than doubled with the new ownership. To keep doing shows there we need to raise another $1,000.00 a year!
