Hello!
This is a crowd-sourced spreadsheet to collect local phenomena in the United States.
Everyone has editing access, so please do not make changes for your own purposes! We all will see the edits.
Please bookmark this spreadsheet and add to it and continue to browse over time as the inspiration strikes!

How to BROWSE this resource for your classroom instruction:
1) Find the state you're interested in. (Tip- You can easily navigate to a state by finding the icon at the bottom left of this spreadsheet that looks like four lines (next to the + icon). Click on the four lines and find your state on the All Sheets list.)
2) Scroll the phenomena examples. You can sort by grade level and content type, but don't limit yourself! You might find that a phenomenon is perfect for your classroom needs, but not labeled as such.
3) Check out nearby states for relevant phenomena.

How to ADD to this resource:
1) On the relevant state tab, add your phenomenon and info to the next empty row.
2) Include as much information as you can in the columns. For grade level and content area, just choose the main one you intended as that will help people search for their own classrooms.
3) Please be mindful of your edits and do not change what others have written. You can always hit Edit-Undo if you do this accidentally, or email Jeanne.
4) You can add as many phenomena as you want!

Note: A phenomenon is an observable event. It is not a topic or a concept. The phenomena we add to this spreadsheet should be place-based, not general phenomena. See box below for relevant learning about phenomena in science instruction.
