An Au Ra named Kore lost a close friend, Narisane, who suddenly went missing. Hunters were contracted to search for Narisane but were attacked by a hostile Xaela calling herself Shadehunter who seemed to bear some sort of grudge with the Vanguard, specifically Haeferic. Narisane's trail went cold on the shores of the Ruby Tide.

Later, a contract arrived to defend a Raen village from a band of pirate slavers. Hunters deployed and dispatched the pirates, their leader left behind a mysterious letter written in an unknown language.

A by the book commander named Celine Moreau arrived to arrest members of Saronia using evidence gathered by Memory Crystal for the following crimes:

The Vanguard was divided as some Hunters surrendered while others fled. Those that surrendered worked with Celine to prove their innocence using Page's memories, while those that fled accompanied House Loralon in an operation to investigate an Alliance black site, where they discovered a captive Velia. Those responsible within the Alliance tried to have Celine and Velia killed but were thwarted by the Vanguard, who have now been cleared in Celine's eyes.

The search for Sera's mother reached a dead end after sealing the gate to the prohibitively hostile First located in the Thirteenth. With the help of Necros Phobos, the Vanguard was able to render the Cloud of Darkness inert again. As thanks, he took them to a place called the Second Serving Cafe where a stable Riftgate leading to the First resides.

The Hunters investigated the Cafe and found themselves in the First. After some initial trouble, they formed a positive rapport with a couple of the locals who acclimated the Vanguard with their new surroundings. Ari was able to learn that someone called Hope is potentially known to Slitherbough.

While not overtly requested, investigate the rumor and hopefully learn more about Sera's mother, the one called Hope.
