REQUIREMENTS AND TIPS TO KNOW ABOUT WHEN CREATING YOUR BUDGET:
8
* The dates for your budget should be a 12-month time frame; it does not have to be the calendar year.
9
* Feel free to use the "notes" column to add more details on any line items.
10
* If paid staff time will be used to plan and execute your project, don't forget to include it in the expenses for your project. If applicable, don't forget to include pro bono contributions of time by professionals. If there are no paid staff or pro bono professionals working on this project you do not need to include that line item.
11
* In the income section, include all sources of anticipated income including both received and projected. Indicate the status in the "notes" column as needed.
12
* Don't forget to account for the value of donated items in your budget. If a local business donates $100 worth of food for your event, it shouldn't be deleted from your budget, but rather be reflected in both the income and expense sections.
13
* The line items listed below for expenses and income are not an exhaustive list. This is just an example. You are likely to have different expense and income categories than those listed here, and you may have fewer or more. You only need to include the budget line items that are relevant to your project.
14
* Your budget should be balanced. That is, the total of your expenses should equal the total of your income.
15
* Your budget should be for the entire cost of your project, not just for the portion of that project that is your grant request. For example, if your project budget is $2,950 and you are requesting $1,250 from Hazon, your budget should be for the entire $2,950.
16
* Hazon mini-grants are for $250 - $2,500. The budget for your project cannot be less than $250. Your budget can exceed $2,500, but the request to Hazon cannot.
