Several months ago, when this group's budget was late because Kenichi was unavailable to submit it, they agreed they'd decentralise their operations so there was no longer a single point of failure. But evidently they didn't do so, because this time, the reason given for (slight) lateness was again that Kenichi was unavailable. They still haven't organised themselves so that someone else can do core tasks if needed.

02/04/2025 12:46:04CallyFromAuronI consentThe WG pays $25 / hour for facilitation, compared to some other guilds and workgroups using $20/hour.I'm completely fine with African Guild's payment structure. I've only ticked the box because I'd like us to discuss, in general terms, this issue of differing pay scales. I'd like to see if we can agree once and for all that it's actually **fine** for different WGs to pay different amounts for a task, and that there is no absolute standard.I consentI consentMajority of costed outputs of this guild of creating content nobody wants. There are hundreds of these similar AI videos produced in Youtube, why we keep paying to produce more of them? Also why not coordinate with Video Workgroup? I have forgotten whats the purpose of education guild? this Budget sheet is asking funds basically for nothing useful and for no purpose.I don't completely agree with everything in the objection - but I do agree that we need to look at who "wants" our public-facing content, and who's viewing it.
Maybe this could be part of the planned conversations about output quality in general.
I objectWhen you look at the structure for zealy inaitive for example, there are questions and operations that users need to answer and do in order to get the XP. None of this is shared Report. Makes it feel like they are hiding the actual result and impact. They don't even share the structure in report, but need to dig deep in GitHub comments. Some initiatives are great though, so it's a shame if some of them don't get funded because project management is bloated and some initiatives low quality and misleading.I agree with the objector that we need to talk about the impact and value of Zealy initiatives, and whether they are worth funding. (I've read the Zealy report, but it contains no direct evidence of the impact and value for sNET; only the impact for the participants. And it gives no evidence of the quality of the work done by participants in Zealy sprints.)

Is there any evidence that Zealy tasks have any major positive effect for sNET/the Ambassador Program, and/or that Zealy participants develop any interest in sNET? If not - is it a priority in times like these?
I consentI objectThe Point System was a project that got rewarded 900$. How did that go? because you ask 500$ more., Over-centralisation in the WG. They still haven't organised themselves so that someone else can do core tasks if needed.I agree that we need to give some scrutiny to the Points system - this objection isn't really addressed in the WG's responses doc, and on reflection I don't think it was adequately addressed in their quarterly report either.

I also think we need to look at how we follow up on what WWG says it has done to address centralisation.

Even the quarter report leaves in the template info and Q1 Plans which is over., The WG pays $25 / hour for facilitation, compared to some other guilds and workgroups using $20/hour., It seems rewards are simply distributed between selected people who joined meetings - the actual outcomes don't reflect the way the budget is constructed. The responses are not sufficient and does not reflect whats left in Quarterly Report (copy paste template info still remains) No reasoning provided in Budget sheet over deviation of hourly rates (considering this is only source of planning info, Response does address it, but is not included in budget sheet where they bring it out right that Africa Guild faciliation is more demanding and skilled role compared to other Workgroups)

The initiatives outcomes are great ideas, but could use some more explanation.
Breakdown was addressed in response, but no attempt to div it up in Budget sheet.

I have forgotten whats the purpose of education guild? this Budget sheet is asking funds basically for nothing useful and for no purpose. There is no supporting material other than the previous Quarterly Report to know what Guild is doing and how to get involved. The Guild has big plans but is not transparent with budget details. Don't see the need to also build Guilds reserves. It has enough to cover continues meetings so that they can plan ahead what they want to deliver to community. The doc could be included as additional info.

This Guild is mainly giving out flat rewards based on role regardless of how much time it takes. Needs to be considered when asking large amount of funds. The team has not done any prioro research or measuring the actual time it takes to do these roles.

Zealy Report info does not sufficiently provide the info about tasks, impact and the actual things this program was paid to incetivise, still feels like wasted experiment for me as after a year I still dont know if it its any good

Quite hard to follow the Report. However they were addressed imo.

02/04/2025 18:27:45guillermoluceroI consentAgree with concerns, lot of room for impoovement.I consentThe topic was already discussed in the governance meetings, and I understand the responses and arguments presented by guild members are ok. I believe it is valid to review the cost of contributions and reallocate funds to other guild efforts if feels necessary.

I believe it is worth highlighting that the concerns point out that clarifications of the case should be part of the report and budget initially and are intended to help WG leads improve on this aspect in future iterations.
I consentI agree with the concerns, but I still support the guild in using this quarter to address this issue and working to coordinate efforts with video, marketing, and regional WGs, for example, to find common ground on where to prioritize and put focus to. There's a lot of room for improvement, and I see this need to adapt to the needs of budget reductions as an opportunity.I consentI agree with the concerns, but I'm still deciding to support the guild in using this quarter to address this issue and working to coordinate efforts with video, education, and regional WGs, for example, to find common ground on what to prioritize. The guild has one of the largest budgets in the program! There's a lot of room for improvement, and I see this need to adapt to the budget reduction requirements as an opportunity. I will personally be getting involved in guild operations to better understand the needs and be able to contribute to the efforts.I consentThe clarifications of the case were made in an attached document, and I was responsible for arguing them. Even so, I believe the concerns are valid in some cases, and we will be striving to address the necessary solutions.
