TAB 2
List out your clients for the past 4 years including the year they became a client. Add in the "source" which is how they heard about you.

Remember, a referral source is always a human and repeat clients are not referred; the source is repeat client.

List out your prospects for the past 1-2 years (for which you have record of). Prospects are people you talked to but did not hire you.

TAB 4
This is where you merge tab 2 and 3 together. First highlight all of the clients in green so when you merge you can visually see who is a client and who is a prospect.

I like to then sort the spreadsheet based on the "source" column so I can easily delete any row that is not a referral source.

When you finish deleting non-referral sources, you are left with a list of referral sources and the clients or prospects they referred to you.

I recommend you then sort by referral sources name (source column) so you have them in ABC order

The last step is to create a master list of referral sources for this tab. Each referral source should be listed only once.

Then label each referral source with their type and if they are active or inactive.
