Grant Program OverviewThe ultimate goal of the Catalyzing Agroforestry Grant Program is to increase ecosystem sustainability and diversity by scaling up agroforestry practices. To achieve this, assistance is available through regional partners, funding, and technical assistance. The program will also develop an Agroforestry Regional Knowledge (ARK) Exchange that serves as a framework for future growth of agroforestry adoption. The ARK Exchange will support ecocultural learning, workforce development, and networking of producer peers, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, and governmental and nongovernmental partners.ASSETS (Accelerating Silvopasture Adoption and Carbon Sequestration through Emerging Markets and Technologies) gets producers paid for growing trees on pasture and hayland - up to $1,500 per acre upfront in USDA support and 30 years of on-going payments for the carbon credits generated as part of the planting.

Technical support available.
The Expanding Agroforestry Project (EAP) is funded by a $60M award from USDA’s Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities. EAP will provide $36M in direct-to-producer incentive payments that significantly subsidize the installation costs of planting new agroforestry systems of alley cropping, silvopasture, and windbreaks. A major project goal is to establish 30,000 new acres of agroforestry over the next five years, while meaningfully increasing the engagement and accessibility of the program to underserved producers.
