*All classroom supplemental books (not those in the district curriculum and/or LISD library) must be reflected in this spreadsheet on your assigned page.
3
*At a minimum, you must have the title and author or each book in your classroom library.
4
*Kids may still access the materials in your classroom library even if your inventory is not completed. Use your professional discretion.
5
*The sooner you get the inventory done, the better--providing families with clarity of what resources are available. Until your inventory is entered in this sheet, if a parent shows up requesting to look, we will escort them to your room.
6
*The expectation is that all classroom libraries are inventoried and identified in this spreadsheet by January 6, 2026.

How to use Chatgpt to generate a bookshelf list from a picture
24
Take a photograph of a bookshelf with clear legible book spines and upload. Make sure that lighting is good and there are no obstructions.
25
Examine the extracted data for accuracy.
26
27
Use this prompt:
28
Extract the book titles and authors from this image of a bookshelf and create a Google Sheet ( it creates it in Excel, but you can upload to Google Sheets). Present the extracted information in a table format, with columns for Title and Author (you can add more detail if you’d like). Prioritize accuracy and readability, even if some titles are partially obscured .
29
30
Pros -- Much easier to use than Excel. The picture is read more easily.
31
Cons -- Free Chatgpt has a limited amount of times you can use per day.
32
33
*Note: If you have the paid version you can use it as many times as needed. Also, if you do not use a school account, there is an extension called “SheetGPT” that will extract text from images directly in your Google Sheet
34
35
36
Here is how you do this in Gemini AI
37
After you take a picture of your books spines, go to Gemini AI and put in this prompt
38
39
Organize these books into a table by author and title from this image. Create additional columns for each of the books that indicate if they have professional literary reviews, genre, intended audience.
40
41
Click the plus and upload your photo and you are set. Your sheet to export will be at the bottom of the list.
42
43
