Guidelines on Department Distribution Lists
3
Department distribution lists include both mailing lists and electronic mail distribution lists including those created by members of the Stanford community from university sources. Use of the distribution lists is authorized only for the use of official University and Department of Chemistry business. University and department distribution lists may not, for example:
4
> Be used for personal, partisan political, satire, or commercial purposes
> Be provided to persons or entities outside the University
> Be used for promotional purposes or solicitations by other than Stanford University
5
Consistent with Stanford University’s Code of Conduct, all communications are expected to be respectful and inclusive. By posting to these lists, one agrees to the policies and guidelines listed in this document. Violation of these policies is subject to disciplinary action administered by the department, school, university as well as the Office of Community Standards.

General Tips
15

Be inclusive: For events, err on the side of including everyone who might be interested (e.g., by including research staff and post-doc listservs when sending out emails)

Controlling subscriptions: If you want to subscribe, unsubscribe, or manage a listserv you can usually head to https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/LISTSERV_NAME (e.g. https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/listinfo/devo_brownbag)

Viewing subscriptions: If you want to know which listservs you belong to, you can go to https://mailman.stanford.edu/mailman/mylists. From there, you can see which listservs you’re a part of and manage your subscriptions by clicking on the link to each listserv.

Getting added: For all lists maintained by the department you’ll be automatically added to the necessary lists by the department admin (who work tirelessly to make sure this happens!). For individual labs or research groups, reach out to the person in charge of the listserv (often a lab manager) to get added
