6One Health ValuesBelonging How do we convey this value? How are we demonstratung inclusion, and opportunity for all to join us? On our public-facing, and closed platform systems.1

7One Health ValuesDiversity, Equity, Inclusion I don't believe the language we use is inclusive. There are a lot of overused and densely academic words that are fine for faculty, but much of the staff and students might feel excluded. I believe we should have a "do not use" list of words in which we search for alternatives. Among the overused academic/corporate cliche words: leverage, stakeholder, anything -based, (evidence-based, community-based, place-based (and I for one don't know what that means). Among the academic words that reach few beyond faculty: iinterdiscipinarity (?); lived experience (what other kind of experience is there?); experiential (hands-on or real world or something even more specific might be better). intentional (do we do anything unintentionally?)

26
21One Health ValuesPlace-centerednessI really don't like this word combo. I and probably many others don't know what this means. I think people may be too embarrassed to admit they have no idea what it means. I would like a word or word combo that is more specific.

43One Health PurposeCulture & Identity: A foundation for our identity as an institution and our campus culture
49
44One Health Purposesolving societal needs and solving real-world problems
50
45One Health PurposeWho are we taking about? When we say community, who are talking about? Can we serve the business community and student communities, especially if they are not aligned on needs & want? So servingness to whom and to what end? How are we bridging and/connecting this gap?I agree whole-heartedly with the above comment. Which community. The word "community" has been used so often, it is very nearly invisible. That's the peril of a threadbare word.
51
46One Health PurposeClearly show path
52
47One Health PurposeConnect degree to place: A CI degree should leave a graduate uniquely qualified to navigate Central Coast economy/ecology/community
53
48One Health PurposeExposure/Experiential: giving students and families the opportunity to see higher education as a valuable exciting option.
54
49One Health PurposeTo serve and provide students with the support they need to thrive, graduate and meet post-graduate goals. To create and cultivate social mobility. To teach them how to become social change advocates for themselves and their community
55
50One Health PurposeProve that a college degree is valuable: Valuable to graduates of this university and to encourage others to come here
56
51One Health PurposeFocus on current majors offered instead of trying to add new ones. Increase class options for current majors - more class times, different professors.
57
52One Health PurposeNo Ferry Necessary: Not a value but a slogan
58
53One Health PurposeChillin’ at Camarillo: Not a purpose but a slogan; rooted in Charlie Parker’s Relaxin’ at Camarillo, written after time here, but maybe catchier language?
59
54One Health PurposeCI: We Are Ventura County
60
55One Health PurposeSmall campus, huge impacts. Student can still impact change here. It’s not as rooted as other universities, allowing flexibility in majors, experiences, educational experiences, etc.

63
58Intended ImpactHelping students to understand the value and meaning of a one-health education. How do we motivate students to be excited to choose higher education?
64
59Intended ImpactEstablish CI as a leader in sustainability and climate action
65
60Intended ImpactCode switch in different settings
66
61Intended ImpactStudent success: A place that students can come, feel supported and belonging, and succeed!!
67
62Intended ImpactSocial mobility for students, their family and future generations - specifically for Ventura County. Creating leaders for the local community. Create a brand for the university.I think social mobility is another word used most often among those who live in academia, and not those trying to feel like they belong. This is an easy word to make more inclusive: "A degree can raise your profile, your income, your entire family's status, the happiness you feel about your career and social standing." Social mobility is more of a cerebral word used among statisticians.
68
63Intended ImpactOne vision and message about who the university is that is truly reflected on the campus.Face the fact that CI is a commuter school and utilize that image to our advantage.
69
64Intended ImpactA small campus in a big system. we’re part of the CSU which has common values of social mobility and education for all. But we are a small campus: part of a large university with a small school vibe, a personal touch. Your faculty know you.
70
65Intended ImpactCSUCI: Your Faculty See You. Another slogan idea.
71
66On Whom/WhatWestern states compact. Students in certain states can pay in- state tuition to come to CI
72
67On Whom/WhatStudents, businesses/employers, community, land, animals, sea etc
73
68On Whom/WhatPeople with disabilities• The disabled community must be explicitly integrated in this and all CI initiatives. Using the term “inclusion” is not enough.
• Ensure we have a truly inclusive and diverse representation of individuals in this planning and visioning to develop something that serves all, especially those who are typically underrepresented.
74
69On Whom/WhatGrowth and development of society, students, community.
75
70On Whom/WhatOutside in perspective. Let community needs inform academic programs and learning opportunities
76
71On Whom/WhatCampus Community: All faculty, staff, and administrators need a clear sense of who we are and where we're going to inform their work and develop community bonds
77
72On Whom/WhatOn state legislature
78
73On Whom/WhatStudents and families: Others should be a result of their progress and succes
79
74On Whom/WhatK-8 Students
80
75On Whom/WhatStudents who typically go to UCSB/Cal Poly SLO. We should lean into our identity for nerdy local students as providing an intimate university experience, with small classes, internships, etc.2
