They are also relied heavily upon for consultation, mental health counseling/support, and crisis intervention. Our interns leave this district fully prepared for future employment and often, pending openings, join our district as we grow our school psychologist team.

opportunities for school psychologists interested in expanding roles to align their practices to the NASP practice model for comprehensive services.

MultiTiered Systems of Support (MTSS) has been used extensively within the district as a placement model for SLD for well over a decade. CCS was one of three districts within North Carolina to be awarded both state and federal grants to implement social-emotional learning (SEL) programs and providing support to students at the core, supplemental, and intensive levels. School psychologists are highly involved in the data collection and implementation of these SEL programs.

Across all schools within Cleveland County school psychologists enjoy the opportunity
to be involved in and lead problem-solving teams, assist with creating and implementing
behavior plans, and perform counseling duties when appropriate.

Psychologists are generally assigned two schools and traditional assessment
numbers are low, with most psychologists within the district performing between 30 and 50
assessments per year. The individual(s) selected for this position will join a staff of eleven school psychologists providing comprehensive psychological services to a student population of just under 15,000.

The county provides a diverse mixture of suburban, rural, and urban settings. We are located
about an hour from Charlotte, NC and a little over an hour from Asheville, NC.
YesSchool Psychologist Interns will be salaried employees allowing for benefits and for their internship year to count towards the NC State Employee retirement system.
