| Important Notes |
| |
| 1. This Database is currently accurate up to Season X, and the Statistics (TBA) will be updated after every Hall of Fame Battle Royale/Murderers' Death Battle. |
| 2. Since most of the players are/were from TV Tropes, the Media of Origin will use the TVT namespaces while the Works of Origin will be linked to their respective TVT pages if applicable, otherwise they'll be linked to other sources instead except for NSFW ones (see #28 for more info). |
| 3. Due to the nature of some tributes (i. e. their very existence spoils their source work), all spoilers for every work represented will be unmarked. YouHaveBeenWarned. |
| 4. For simplicity's sake, should the same tribute be nominated by a different player in their subsequent appearances, then they'll be assumed to be the same tribute in all their appearances including group tributes, ignoring anything in the TC HGS RP (name TBD) that would make them an alt of an existing RP tribute. This discrepancy will be placed in Additional Notes in the individual seasons and footnotes (marked with a black triangle in a cell's top right corner) everywhere else instead. |
| 5. In Tribute Data, tributes are arranged alphabetically by both their full name (unless their last name or real identity is a spoiler, though there are exceptions) and their nickname (when applicable), whichever comes first. In the individual season data, tributes are listed by their order of appearance. |
| 6. Honorific titles are usually omitted unless they're part of the tribute's name. |
| 7. Tributes with Japanese names are written with their given name first unless the format is "X no Y", where Y is their given name, though there are exceptions such as Vocaloid, Is the Order a Rabbit?, and The Disastrous Life of Saiki K tributes. |
| 8. If a tribute has undergone a DubNameChange, then they'll be listed under their English name when available. |
| 9. Group tributes are listed by their group name or the names of the individuals that are part of them. In case of the latter, the individuals are listed from left to right and top to bottom based on their picture unless their "duo name" is iconic (e. g. Mario and Luigi will always be referred to as such and never the other way around, even if Luigi appears on the left). |
| 10. YouTubers (i. e. majority of the Web Video tributes) are listed by both their real name followed by their screen name, unless their real name is unknown or they choose not to reveal it. |
| 11. Real people in Music and Real Life (actors) are listed by their stage names only, though there are exceptions. |
| 12. Tributes are sorted under their original work of origin unless its adaptation is more well-known or the tribute is explicitly from a particular version of the work. Examples: All tributes from The Magic School Bus are placed under Western Animation instead of Literature because the cartoon is more familiar and they're specifically their incarnations there. All Harry Potter tributes, on the other hand, are under Literature instead of Film because while both media incarnations are well-known, the books came first. |
| 13. Real people are categorized by their primary occupation. While creators have their own namespace on TV Tropes, they are not forms of media, so they're under the Real Life category, a special "medium" that includes people not in Music, Professional Wrestling, or Web Videos/Let's Plays. |
| 14. MoeAnthropomorphisms (e. g. Earth-chan) are listed under Original Characters unless they're the official mascot of what they represent (e. g. Wikipe-tan is under Wikipedia). |
| 15. Troubadours are listed under Troubadour Author Avatars because they're essentially nominating characters that represent themselves. Multiple AuthorAvatars of the same troubadour (e. g. TRP-6001 and Power Stroke) are counted as separate tributes. TAAs who are OCs set in an existing work (e. g. the aforementioned Power, who is a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic ponysona of PowerStroke6001) or RP characters (e. g. the aforementioned 6k1, who's from TVT's Hunger Games Simulator: Convergence and its sequel Another Side, Another Story) are listed under Original Characters ([work]) and roleplay threads, respectively, instead. |
| 16. Fusion characters such as the ones from Dragon Ball and Steven Universe are considered as singular tributes, no matter how many components they have. If the tribute is a fusion of two or more characters from different source materials (e. g. Nagibaldi, a fusion of Nagito Komaeda and Baldi), then they are not a group tribute by definition and are listed under Crossovers (fusions) instead. Fusions also include internally possessed tributes such as Bipper (Dipper Pines being possessed by Bill Cipher). |
| 17. If a franchise spans multiple forms of media, then it is listed under its primary medium (e. g. Super Mario Bros. is listed under Video Games). Tributes from that franchise as a whole are listed there unless they're from a specific work within it (e. g. Primal Dialga is listed under Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers instead of Pokémon as a whole). This also applies to sequels, prequels, spinoffs, etc. (e. g. Kiara is listed under The Lion King II: Simba's Pride instead of The Lion King (1994)) |
| 18. Tributes made just for TC HGS (e. g. any in-joke from this thread or lore characters) are listed under Trouble Cube Hunger Games Simulation. |
| 19. Whether or not certain tributes are the same character is up to the Database Manager's discretion, but as a general rule, alter egos (e. g. Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader) and canonical cross-media incarnations (e. g. Luigi and Mama Luigi) are usually counted as separate tributes. Alternate forms of the same tribute (e. g. Sonic and Super Sonic), on the other hand, are usually counted as the same tribute. Physical transformations also count as alternate forms, regardless of canonicity, unless the tribute's personality was drastically changed from their canon personality. |
| 20. If a tribute has gender bending powers (e. g. Ranma Saotome), then their GenderFlipped version is counted as the same character as the original. If they were GenderFlipped to begin with (e. g. most Rule63 fanart in general), then the GenderFlipped counterpart is considered as a separate character from the original. Player characters who can be either gender depending on the player's choice (e. g. Male and Female Commander Shepard) fall under the latter condition, since they are GenderFlipped versions of each other. |
| 21. Due to how the tribute system works, group tributes and their individuals (e. g. Mario, Luigi, and Mario and Luigi (as one tribute)) are counted as separate tributes. As a result, the actual number of tributes is a separate statistic when considering them. |
| 22. If a group tribute is "massive" (e. g. (All of) Humanity), then their actual number won't be counted in some parts of the Database because it would mess up the stats. Whether or not such a group tribute is that size is up to the Database Manager's discretion, but as a general rule, large teams with named/recognizable individuals (e. g. sports teams, casts) are not "massive" by definition. |
| 23. The number of individuals in a group tribute will always go by their tribute pic unless otherwise stated. |
| 24. Whether or not tributes with multiplicity (i. e. tributes who have more than one conscious being inhabiting one body) are group tributes will be determined on a case-by-case basis because they're not fusions and "every experience is different". (wingedcatgirl) |
| 25. Group tributes composed entirely of inanimate objects are not counted as "true" group tributes barring rare exceptions (e. g. All the Stars in the Universe, due to how much impact they have if they get killed). |
| 26. If a tribute is a real-world country/state/province (i. e. not anthropomorphized, such as Polandball or Hetalia: Axis Powers characters) (e. g. Michigan), then it's assumed that the geographical location was nominated instead of its population unless otherwise stated. This is to keep things simple unless the population itself was explicitly nominated (e. g. the US Population). This also applies to inhabited planets (e. g. Earth). |
| 27. If a tribute is a work (e. g. MOTHER), then it is assumed that the work itself has been nominated unless its cast has been explicitly nominated (e. g. the Touhou Project Cast). Work tributes are listed under themselves. |
| 28. NSFW works are flagged under the following content warnings: * NSFW: Works that would violate TVT's Content Policy if they had their own pages there. ** Borderline NSFW: Works that have TVT pages, but still warrant content warnings (e. g. Happy Tree Friends). *** NSFW, but clean version available: ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin (e. g. HuniePop). **** Borderline NSFW, but clean version available: also ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin (e. g. Fate/stay night). ***** Clean version of otherwise NSFW work: Like the above, but the work itself is the BleachedUnderpants version (e. g. Monster Musume). |
| 29. In Work Data, works are arranged alphabetically and then chronologically when applicable, though there are some series whose sequels, prequels, etc. don't start with the same letter as the first work. For now, those works are alphabetized. |
| 30. Multiple works bearing the same title but within the same continuity are counted as separate works (e. g. Pokémon is listed under Video Games, but the Pokémon anime is a separate work). |
| 31. Foreign-language works are listed by their English name when applicable. |
| 32. Whether or not certain works within the same continuity should be counted as separate works or not is up to the Database Manager's discretion (e. g. all core series games in the Final Fantasy series are counted separately, while all core series games in Pokémon are lumped under their franchise as one work). |
| 33. If a work has MediumBlending (e. g. Blue's Clues, The Amazing World of Gumball), then it is listed under its primary medium. |
| 34. Players are listed by their current username. If they changed their username since they first joined, then it'll be noted in Player Data. |
| 35. A player officially participates in a season when their tributes have been successfully registered in it or if they host a season, even if they don't submit any. If their tribute(s) qualified for a Battle Royale/Death Battle, but the player themself wasn't present (determined if they didn't comment in the season itself, whether on the thread or Discord server), then they will be marked as such in the Player Participation in Player Data. |
| 36. The picture of the Reaping of each season does not necessarily reflect that of the original version found at the beginning of each one. Some of them had to be recreated in order to correct mistakes in the tribute pics/spelling, or because the originals were lost through time. |
