Please use the PRODUCTION GRANT BUDGET template to provide an accurate accounting of your project income and expenses.

BUDGET INSTRUCTIONS BY SECTION


Expenses: The budget should reflect ALL costs associated with the project including the subtotals of allocations of previously spent funds, grant funds, matching funds, and funds yet to be secured.

INCOMEThe budget should reflect all sources of income, whether these funds are in place at the time of application or projected. List all sources of cash and in-kind income received, applied for or anticipated. Include names of funders and other sources.

EXPENSESThe budget should reflect estimated costs associated with the project, including the subtotals of allocations of previously spent funds, grant funds, matching funds, and funds yet to be secured.

CALIFORNIA HUMANITIES
GRANT FUNDS
Only your anticipated allocation of California Humanities grant funds however needs to be broken out and detailed for each category and budget line. As noted above, please provide estimated subtotals of all other expenses not allocated to us. The grant request must be matched by at least a total 1:1 amount of cash or in-kind contributions from non-federal sources. Funds from the NEH, state humanities councils or other federally-assisted programs may not be used as matching funds but should be included in the total budget.

LINE ITEM DESCRIPTIONSYou can change text and add/delete budget rows as necessary for your project. Lines may also be left blank if they are not applicable to your project.

COUNTFor California Humanities grant funds only, provide unit number, i.e, "2" plane tickets or "5" days. A flat rate or fixed cost are also acceptable.

UNITThis is the unit to which NUMBER correspond, (i.e., 2 "hours" or "days"). You may change UNIT to fit your project specifications.

RATEThe cost of UNIT (each), to be multiplied by the NUMBER amount. (I.E. 2 plane tickets at "$300" each or 2 days at "$500" per day)

SPENT PRIOR
to grant period
Enter amount spent prior to the start of the grant period. Funds spent prior to the start of the grant period date cannot be used as matching funds for the CDP grant.

California Humanities GRANT FUNDSEnter the anticipated allocation of California Humanities funds. If you have received previous R&D funding from us, list this in the INCOME section, and list the expenses in the SPENT column of the EXPENSES section.

MATCH cashEnter the received and/or anticipated amount of matching funds (cash) for CDP grant funds. Funds spent prior to start of grant period are not eligible as matching funds.

MATCH in-kindEnter the received and/or anticipated amount of matching funds (in-kind) for California Humanities grant funds. Funds spent prior to start of grant period are not eligible as matching funds.

OTHER FUNDS federalEnter the received and/or anticipated amount of income not eligible as California Humanities matching funds (i.e., funds from federal sources such as grants from the NEA or NEH).
