BPS Performance Management Team
2
An effective performance management system is designed to improve student outcomes by retaining and rewarding strong educators; accurately identifying areas for instructional improvement and providing targeted supports to grow educators’ practice; identifying trends to direct district resources; and moving out those who do not respond to supports and do not demonstrate improvement. For accountability to be fair, transparent, and valid, there must first be clarity around the school’s shared vision of effective practice, the expectations for members of the school community, and the feedback leaders give to educators. To meet those shared expectations, educators should be supported through individualized coaching, relevant professional learning experiences, and collaboration with colleagues.
