Sample Schedule Notes
81
Biochemistry Requirement Notes:
82
The Biochemistry Committee must approve major standing and a detailed plan of study at least three semesters prior to graduation
83
Students may apply for major standing after completion of 18 credits of chemistry and at least eight credits of biology from the listed requirements (see catalog), with a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 2.50 in those courses
84
Complete the requirements for a major offered by the College of Arts and Sciences with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.00
85
Coursework more than 10 years old is subject to reevaluation by the department
86
The department recommended free electives include STA 2226, CHM 2200 and CHM 3620; Free electives may need to include university requirements of G.E. Integration or credits at the 3000-4000 level
87
88
Gen Ed Notes:
89
General Education Courses fulfilled within major: NSTN, FR, and KA
90
General Education Courses needed outside of major: WF, ART, LIT, LG, WCIV, GP, SS (WIG and US Diversity *see below note*)
91
NOTE: Students should choose a general education course from an above category that also double counts as fulfilling a WIG and US Diversity. For example, a GP Gen Ed + WIG Gen Ed course or LIT Gen Ed + DIV Gen Ed course
92
93
CAS Exploratory Requirement
94
In addition to satisfying the university-wide general education requirements, all students with majors in the College of Arts and Sciences are required to complete at least three courses outside of their major rubric, for a minimum of 12 credits.
95
A student may select these courses from either of the following: A single rubric of their choosing (e.g., HST, ACC, etc.) or a predefined thematic set of courses identified on the College of Arts and Sciences website.
96
Additionally, earning a double major or degree, completion of a minor or concentration, or completion of honors college requirements (including HC 3900) satisfies the exploratory requirement.
97
NOTE: CAS Exploratory can be fulliled within the major automatically if 12 credits of biology coursework is all taken at OU
