As with many services these days email is a simple way out of direct conversation. I believe this eventually led in this instance to me the client being unaware what the left hand was saying to the right hand. Even after sorting that matter I left a voicemail for Laurence Smith followed 10 days later by a direct call to one of your secretaries & leaving a further message for him to call me but I NEVER received ANY such call back from him. I don't question his professional abilities but it would be to HIS advantage if he could sometimes speak to a client PERSONALLY as many of us are laymen and need a little education of process to understand what we are paying for. ,.

30 May 2018I was not impressed initially at all, if I am entirely honest. There was a massive delay in the notice being approved in principle on 15th February and yet not sent out until 19th March (which was after we chased).

This caused a 5 week delay where we had already arranged alternative accommodation (which was at a cost to both me and my father who lost out on rent)

We have constantly had to chase for matters to progress. In actual fact, I think we should have been offered a discount for your services given the inefficiency.

That said, Robert has more recently been helpful in answering questions asked of us from the neighbour below.
1) Efficiency - we were constantly having to chase to get things moving

2) transparency - clearly there was lack of communication between parties in respect of the notices being served

13 Feb 2018The final report was fine but I was not impressed by the service. There was NO sense of urgency at all and I would sometimes have to call 4 or 5 times before getting a response to my enquiries. At no time did I receive any apology for that or for the abject failure to meet every deadline - the process took twice as long as expected and it was not the neighbour's fault. Also, we had to rely on my builder to point out that the rear part of the property wasn't even a party wall. However, I was not happy that I was not informed that I would have to pay my neighbour £5,900 for use of his party wall, until it came through in the party wall award. Costs should be indicated in advance. It maybe obvious to you that a cost would need to be paid to my neighbour but I did not know this. And the majority of your clients will have very little experience of party walls. I had to ask my architect, Paul Draper to chase him up as nothing seemed to be happening. And to top it all Laurence came to do the survey on the only day of the week that I'm available without even letting me know! I only found out that he came from my neighbours!

9 May 2017I really can't recommend Robert and his team more highly if I tried.
We were served with a notice from the owner of the adjoining property, of their intentions to build an extension. Whilst the structure looked straightforward enough, the neighbour was clearly in a hurry to start building and had mismanaged their time in serving the notice to us which was supposed to be in accordance with a relevant act.
I wanted to ensure the rights of our property were adequately protected, whilst also ensuring that our neighbour was able to start the project in good time given no objections.
Anyone who knows me would say that I am thorough, fair, trust my gut instinct and know when someone knows their stuff.

Robert immediately put me at ease, firstly his approach was unlike any I had come across earlier as I had spoken to eight other surveyors who were happy for me to just go ahead and instruct them in issuing my neighbours with a very costly solution which not to be crude (was financially favourable to the surveyor).
Robert immediately listened, acknowledged my concerns and offered a supportive approach which was to benefit all parties. Not only did his solution offer a strong enough level of legal protection for our property, but it also managed to keep the relationship between us and our neighbours intact and made it possible for us to move forward with mutual agreement.

Robert also spotted that the Notice originally served was issued under the wrong section making it automatically invalid.
From the start he has been honest, open and transparent in his dealings with my case and never once asked that we get his firm to represent us.
He simply presented us with the ALL the options and the facts and an affordable solution for my neighbour who was also happy with the outcome given that it would have been their financial responsibility to pay!

Your property is likely to be the most expensive / valuable thing you will ever own. Please, if you have to instruct a Party Wall Surveyor and want peace of mind you NEED to work with this company.
Knowledgeable, trustworthy and work with integrity, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them or working with Robert and his team again and I wish them continued success.

28 Mar 2017Yes, Robert is v good, but admin support was a shambles, I went with WWP because of the response I got from Rebecca Meyer- she seemed v organised and on top of things- but once she was not involved it was clear that Robert had too large a workload- so it was difficult to speak to him, I was never aware of progress, had to chase personally myself on numerous occasionssee above, 1:1 advice from Robert was always v good and his experience shone through,
also, liked the fact that his advice was always honest and he picked up on issues missed by architect

but it was all v disorganised, deadlines missed, other side not chased, often seemed reactive rather than proactive
