We value this network but right now we need to figure out how we will balance our numbers in order to have more financial commitments. That doesn't mean that we are not willing to support this effort.

We have suggested donations, but receive people for less, depending on their circumstances. In our BIPOC outreach, we choose to host without a donation in a spirit of reparation.
We have well-equipped kitchen for groups and individuals to prepare their own meals. This helps us keep our costs down and program donation suggestions lower. On-line programs are free-will donations only.

Tiered pricing ~ choose from three choices. We call them: Supported, Supporting, Standard We find that the simplicity of three choices encourages people to register without needing hand holding ~ easier than sliding scale for them to make their own choices and less labor for our administrative staff. Many of our programs have a 0 cost option, which is partially subsidized by others who choose a supporting fee along with their registration.

Because of the high number of individuals seeking solitude, we have been able to be financially sustainable for all operating costs even through COVID. We have also been financially sustainable because we benefit from the infrastructure of the Sisters, however, the congregation is coming to completion so our financial sustainability will depend on what happens to the motherhouse as a whole.

Our fees are below the market rate in the area.
Pre-Covid, meals in the community’s dining room were included in the retreat fee ($65/night). During Covid and now, we have a lodging fee ($53/night) and persons are able to purchase the lunch and /or supper meals from the dining room if they wish. During Covid, we did an extensive renovation of the kitchen areas in both retreat centers so that groups and individuals who wish to prepare their own meals can do so with much greater ease.

RCC is worth a LOT! Even for the “embarrassingly low” offering of &250, I’d wonder where I could cut back (maintenance? Library? Household supplies?) to spend the $250. Maybe I could tell donors that a portion of their donations support our participation in RCC.

We are a sponsored ministry of a Catholic order of Sisters. Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP) and Spiritual Directors International (SDI). Both organizations offer the professional networking and support needed to remain current and have a resource to draw on for these evolving practices. We are part of Retreat Finder as an outreach method for guests to find us and learn a bit about who we are and what we do.

The recovery from Covid is still in process. Some of our older adult hosted groups are still hesitant to gather. Conversely tomorrow we have a program we are offering for older adults that has 32 participants. A year ago we attempted to run this same program and only 2 individuals registered. Attracting young adults is also a challenge. We host 900 high school students each school year but do not see them returning as participants in programs.

We have utilized online formats primarily to offer well known speakers in a method we can afford. We could not afford to bring them to our campus and the online format attracts participants from around the country and even outside the U.S. It also enables participation by people who would never have the opportunity to experience these leaders in person. Once we determine our keynote type speakers for our 6 month cycle we add in onsite offerings and other online options as needed.

We need staff capacity, equipment to offer hybrid and to change a culture that does not favour or see a lot of value in online and hybrid. We need to demonstrate its value through some experience with it working well and meeting community needs in different areas and with diverse communities. We also need to identify other barriers to participation.

Differentiated program cost for online and onsite program participation (for hybrid programs)
We offer barrier-reduced fees, true cost of program and generous fee which is true cost plus $50. People can also offer the amount they can afford if barrier-reduced is still not low enough or a donation on top of these.
The program pricing is explained above. We feel showing the true costs helps people understand what it takes to offer the program. The generous fee with a fixed $50 above seems to be more popular than just allowing an additional donation which we used to do especially when we remind people that it is a balancing to address economic barriers for those pushing from the margins.

All of our online and hybrid educational programs are either sliding-scale or free-with-optional-donation. This is working for us in most ways, but we also continue to subsidize our educational programming with our broader operational budget and a one-time start-up grant for expanded public/educational programs. One dimension we've been exploring is our approach to cost-sharing and partnering with other organizations on our programming. Partnering has been largely effective, but we've definitely ended up under-selling our own staff time & expertise a couple of times.

At this time it would need to be minimal, perhaps $100 - 150 and would need to include some cross-marketing potential, such as the pin-point map of location and information about Centers being accessible by the public seeking retreats.
I think it is good that RCC is a 'closed group' with internal access to the Mighty Networks platform itself. However, the landing page/website could be marketed to the public as a 'how to find a retreat space' and 'what to expect on retreat' and similar "how to's" of retreats... a marketing component and better ability to network between retreat sites - Who offers what? Labyrinth? Art? Group size? So we could refer non-RCC folks to the landing page to search for places/services they are looking for, and so we could all have super easy access to that information. In one of the Circles/meetings there was talk of more outreach via advertising/marketing on social media? That would be great.

It's more complicated than the checkboxes you offer. Multi-day programs (whether residential or online) have tiered pricing, short programs (both in person and line) are sometimes offered by donation, or ticketed sliding scale.
We moved to tiered pricing in 2021 and this seems to have worked well for us. Many other Buddhist centers also use this approach.

Our retreat center focuses on On-site, but other programs in our umbrella organization focus on online. At the retreat center some are hybrid and some just on-site. Critical steps are having the hardware and internet bandwidth for hybrid programming, as well as the different facilitation strategies.

I'm not sure I know what our desired mix is. Although many people are "Zoomed out," not to be present in that space (online) seems like a missed opportunity. I supposed we would need to reflect on that, survey our stakeholders and constituents, and thoughtfully come up with a plan. To date, we have not done that.

Because we were able to stay largely open during Covid, it felt like our concerns were different from those of other members, and so we have become less engaged. Money is always tight, so we would look for tangible benefits or solutions to issues we are facing.

The retreat center is connected mostly to community partners that are also users of the center. We welcome many movements within our religious denomination. We are networked to 2 other retreat centers that are run by the same order of Sisters but we are not connected to any other national organization.
