Where is the gear sourced from?
Most of it is from gear that we have offered in our rental program, which means it was originally bought new from higher end manufacturers. Some of it has been donated to us
Can I haggle?
We based our pricing based on a careful evaluation of the original price and the item's current condition. Items are generally at least 50% off except in some cases where they're very new or new (yes we're selling some odds-and-ends)
But that said if you feel like a different price would be more fair, feel free to let us know! It doesn't hurt to ask ;)
How do I know what specification (e.g., temperature, size, etc.) is right for me?
We have very comprehensive & comparative gear guides you can check out here: www.lastminutegear.com/gear-guides
Will a tent rainfly or snow clothes be fully waterproof? Will a sleeping bag be warm enough? Will a sleeping pad stay inflated?
Unfortunately these are things we can't really test for. The Issues as marked only describe visible issues
Sleeping pads & air mattress, unless otherwise noted (for a few of the sleeping pads), they passed an overnight, unweighted inflation test (i.e., no air was lost)
If sleeping pads do leak (as noted on the ones that failed the inflation test), we do offer a special repair service (see repair info below)
I see on the Item List that some gear items have damages, can you repair this?
Some items have also been proactively repaired before this sale, but others we left as-is because some people would rather just make do with a quick DIY fix (e.g., Duct tape!), or leave as is (for example, tent pole segments that are warped or bent may be fine if you're OK with the tent being a bit wobbly)
Where we can repair it, we have made a note, as well as added the repair price.
In other instances, we have noted the rough repair cost and other strategies
If you have any questions, just ask; or make an appointment as all sales are final
For tent pole issues, you can send the poles to Tent Pole Technologies for repair or you can ask them to ship you parts to DIY yourself. Cost estimates:
Single pole segment ~$10-15
Restringing an entire poleset ~$10-15 (if you want to DIY this, we sell new shock cord at $4)
Installing single pole segment ~$10-15
One way shipping for 1 poleset ~$15
For leaky sleeping pads
We offer a repair for $28/pad, more info on this available in our gear guide on sleeping pads: www.lastminutegear.com/gear-guide/sleeping-pad
Most zipper issues we have repaired to a cost-effective standard. To do more repair would often mean replacing the entire track, which would be very expensive, $60-100 for most gear items
Therefore, in many instances where there are zipper issues, we have highlighted strategies on using the items as-is
For goggle foam
We recommend this video for instructions and the type of glue to get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uaMPB-y5BY&ab_channel=ModelMerchants
Also, our gear guides have more information on repairs for those specific items!
