TWO WAYS TO SHOP SAFELY
ONE. Pay us via Venmo first, then get the gear
1. Check out the gear; since it's used & sales are final, we have multiple means for you to do so:
Quickly review our FAQ below
See the full Item List on the second sheet of this document (unavailable items are marked 'sold' & grayed out)
Join (or view post-recording) our livestream, the schedule for each item is on the Item List, our channel is at: https://knocknock.tv/lastmingear
Email firstname.lastname@example.org or text 415-813-1881 with any questions at all!
2, Venmo @lastmingear (note that minute is NOT spelled out). If you do not have Venmo, call us to pay by card
In the comments, let us know what you're buying, and leave your contact info
If you want it to be delivered to you, please contact us first so we can quote the appropriate amount
3. We will respond to schedule a pick up or delivery for the gear
TWO. Make an in-person appointment to browse & buy (note we cannot hold items, but if you tell us what you're interested in, we will make sure it's set-up for you to see, or let you know if sells before your appointment)
1. Email email@example.com or text 415-813-1881 with your top 2 choices for a 1 hour window when you would like to come in, available everyday from 11-7pm (excluding 11/26-27)
Hi, my name is ____, I'd like to browse the used gear sale. My top 2 choices are 1) 11/24 arriving between 1-2pm, 2) 11/25 arriving between 6-7pm
2. We will respond with which appointment works (max. 5 people inside at a time)
Please try to keep your appointment time. COVID safety regulations means that we have a very limited number of people that can be inside at any given time
3. Come by!
Where is the new shop?
We moved to 563 Sutter, 1 block behind Union Square in San Francisco. We can still do local courier deliveries or nationwide shipping, please contact us for a quote (firstname.lastname@example.org or 415-813-1881)
Where is the gear sourced from?
Most of it is from gear that we have offered in our rental program, which means it was originally bought new from higher end manufacturers. Some of it has been donated to us
Can I haggle?
We based our pricing based on a careful evaluation of the original price and the item's current condition. Items are generally at least 50% off except in some cases where they're very new or new (yes we're selling some odds-and-ends)
But that said if you feel like a different price would be more fair, feel free to let us know! It doesn't hurt to ask ;)
How do I know what specification (e.g., temperature, size, etc.) is right for me?
We have very comprehensive & comparative gear guides you can check out here: www.lastmingear.com/gear-guides
Will ____ fit?
We highly encourage making an appointment to buy clothing, shoes, backpacks, or anything else where you're concerned size is an issue. Different brands & models size very diferently, and all sales are final
Will a tent rainfly or snow clothes be fully waterproof? Will a sleeping bag be warm enough? Will a sleeping pad stay inflated?
Unfortunately these are things we can't really test for. The Issues as marked only describe visible issues
Sleeping pads & air mattress, unless otherwise noted (for a few of the sleeping pads), they passed an overnight, unweighted inflation test (i.e., no air was lost)
If sleeping pads do leak (as noted on the ones that failed the inflation test), we do offer a special repair service (see repair info below)
I see on the Item List that some gear items have damages, can you repair this?
Some items have also been proactively repaired before this sale, but others we left as-is because some people would rather just make do with a quick DIY fix (e.g., Duct tape!), or leave as is (for example, tent pole segments that are warped or bent may be fine if you're OK with the tent being a bit wobbly)
Where we can repair it, we have made a note, as well as added the repair price.
In other instances, we have noted the rough repair cost and other strategies
If you have any questions, just ask; or make an appointment as all sales are final
For tent pole issues, you can send the poles to Tent Pole Technologies for repair or you can ask them to ship you parts to DIY yourself. Cost estimates:
Single pole segment ~$10-15
Restringing an entire poleset ~$10-15 (if you want to DIY this, we sell new shock cord at $4)
Installing single pole segment ~$10-15
One way shipping for 1 poleset ~$15
For leaky sleeping pads
We offer a repair for $28/pad, more info on this available in our gear guide on sleeping pads: www.lastmingear.com/gear-guide/sleeping-pad
Most zipper issues we have repaired to a cost-effective standard. To do more repair would often mean replacing the entire track, which would be very expensive, $60-100 for most gear items
Therefore, in many instances where there are zipper issues, we have highlighted strategies on using the items as-is
For goggle foam
We recommend this video for instructions and the type of glue to get: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uaMPB-y5BY&ab_channel=ModelMerchants
Also, our gear guides have more information on repairs for those specific items!
