1 | The Unit Spark Plug Award is to recognize someone who gives a special spark in your unit; a special achiever unit appreciation award. It is available to one person for every 30 boys in each unit every year. Please submit these on a unit basis. It would be appropriate for this award as well as the other unit awards for the unit, and ideally the recipient, to be at the District Dinner. Not subject to awards committee review. 3 | The Outstanding Organization Award (new in 2018) is to honor a chartered organization, a meeting place, a school, or a business that has gone above and beyond to support Scouting. Any district or unit person may make this nomination. Subject to awards committee review but nearly everyone submitted will be awarded. | unit or district | |

5 | The Unit and District Scouting Family Award is designed to recognize the family that symbolizes Scouting at its best… at the Unit and District, or Unit Council level. This family best exemplifies the Scout Oath and Law in their daily life and goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide the best scouting experience not only for their family, but for all the other families in your Unit and District. There will be one or two of these awards given annually at the District Dinner. Those who serve at the unit and district level would have priority over those who serve only at the unit level. 7 | The Rising Star Award is to recognize up and coming adults in our District. This can be to recognize adult leaders who have given service at both the unit (pack, troop, or crew) and district levels. This award is for service beyond the unit level. 9 | The District Silver Star is specific to the Lone Star District. The Silver Star Award is presented to an individual that exemplifies leadership and service at the unit, district, and community level. Any activities that have been performed by the nominee may be considered over a period of years, or a specific event or function. Anyone may nominate a registered volunteer leader who meets the criteria stated. The number of awards that may be presented could be one or two or up to possibly six for the entire District. 11 | The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by councils. 14 | The Silver Beaver Award was introduced in 1931 and is a council level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.
