Statewide COVID-19 Data
Statewide COVID-19 data are not suppressed. Rates calculated for outcomes among <20 people should be interpreted with caution.

Weekly Summary and Trends
Data are updated weekly on Thursdays and reflect data through the most recent Saturday. Percent of emergency department visits with a COVID-19 diagnosis, number of people hospitalized, and viral wastewater concentration data include non-residents of Rhode Island. Hospital admission data prior to January 1, 2023 include non-residents of Rhode Island. All other data reported exclude non-residents. Number of hospital admissions and number of people hospitalized reflect all COVID-19 hospital data, regardless of cause. The 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine was approved on September 11, 2023. Recipients of the 2023-2024 vaccine are counted only once, regardless of the number of vaccine doses they received. Data for the 2022-2023 bivalent vaccine should be considered historic.

Monthly Trends
Data are updated weekly on Thursdays and reflect data through the most recent Saturday. Data reported include Rhode Island residents only.

Population Specific COVID-19 Data
Detailed COVID-19 data in the tabs listed below follow RIDOH's Small Numbers Policy to protect individuals' privacy and to report estimates that are reliable for comparison across different groups. Counts of 1-4 are suppressed and shown as <5. Rates are not calculated for outcomes among <20 people, and age-adjusted rates are not calculated for outcomes among <25 people, due to random variation and small counts. These estimates are suppressed (*) due to statistical instability. When the relative standard error is >20% and <30%, the estimate is reported (‡), but is considered unstable and should be interpreted with caution.

Population specific data exclude non-residents of Rhode Island.

Vaccination Demographic Coverage
Data are updated on the second Thursday of the month and reflect data through the most recent Saturday. When reporting race and ethnicity vaccination data, Other Race cannot always be distinguished so it is reported with unknown or pending further information. Vaccine coverage estimates are capped at 95%. Vaccination data shown represents coverage for the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccine that was approved as of September 11, 2023. Recipients of the 2023-2024 vaccine are counted only once, regardless of the number of vaccine doses they received.

Vaccination Coverage by Age and Municipality
Data are updated on the second Thursday of the month and reflect data through the most recent Saturday. Rates reported for New Shoreham should be interpreted with caution, as the population estimates are unstable.

Case, Hospitalization, Death Demographics
Data are updated on the second Thursday of the month and reflect data through the prior Saturday. Yearly comparisons should be interpreted with caution as 2020 does not represent a full year of data. Data for the current year are still being collected and should also be interpreted with caution. Rates reported for New Shoreham should be interpreted with caution, as the population estimates are unstable. Residents of congregate settings (including long term care facilities, assisted living residences, group homes, shelters, and correctional facilities) are excluded from municipal data as congregate care settings are not distributed equally across the state. Gender identity and sexual orientation data collection began on 6/1/20 and is only available for cases and hospitalizations. Detailed gender identity and sexual orientation definitions are available at https://pflag.org/glossary. Demographic death data reflect laboratory-confirmed and non-laboratory-confirmed deaths.
