Mapping Template - Version 0.4 - September 2016
3
4
This mapping template is designed to support field-level mapping between source systems and the Open Contracting Data Standard.
5
6
Step 1:
7
Use the (Source) sheets to identify the different systems in which contracting data is currently held. Populate the (Source) fields tab with a full list of fields in existing data systems.
8
9
Step 2:
10
Work through the (OCDS) tabs to identify the data available to publish at each stage of a contracting process.
11
12
Note:
13
The following color coding is used throughout the mapping template:
14
15
White: Static data (column headings, examples, descriptions etc.)
16
Grey: Mapping guidance
17
Yellow: Data entry (manual input)
18
Purple: Calculated cell (do not edit)
19
Green: Lookup (select from list)

More information
22
OCDS is designed to support real-time publication of events over the lifetime of a contracting process, from planning through to implementation. At each stage, new information can be provided, and earlier information repeated or updated. Each time information is provided, we call this an OCDS 'release'.
23
24
Multiple releases can be compiled together to provide a summary record of a contracting process.
25
26
In the (OCDS) sheets, fields are marked as 'Basic' (B), 'Intermediate' (I) and 'Advanced' (A). You can filter the mapping sheets to focus only on a particular level of disclosure.
27
28
Whilst the primary serialisation for OCDS is in JSON, using a JSON schema, you can use the field paths as column headings in a spreadsheet, and convert data into a structured form using the OCDS Validator
