27-year-old father Kristopher Smith was dropping his kids off at school when he was shot dead by an unknown assailant. School was in session at the time but no children were injured.
Hazard Community and Technical College
21-year-old Dalton Stidham fatally shot his former girlfriend, her uncle, and her cousin in the parking lot of this small college in Kentucky, reportedly over a domestic dispute.
Chicago State University
17-year-old Tyrone Lawson was killed outside of Chicago State University after a fight broke out, possibly gang-related, at a high school basketball game. Lawson was a senior at Morgan Park High School; he was outside the game talking with friends when two men, Michael McNabb, 32, and Stephen Gilbert, 29 (brothers), allegedly shot him.
Santa Monica College
23-year-old John Zawahri killed his brother and father at their Los Angeles home and then went on a shooting rampage at Santa Monica College, killing another three people and injuring four. Zawahri built the semi-automatic AR-15 style rifle he used with components purchased online; during the rampage he fired approximately 70 rounds over 13 minutes before being shot and killed by police.

Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts
W. Palm Beach, FL
Two custodians, Ted Orama, 56, and Christopher Marshall, 48, were found shot dead in a maintanence closet. A year later police identified a third custodian who worked with them as a suspect, though he was believed to have fled the country.
North Panola High School
15-year-old Roderick Bobo, a player on North Panola High School's football team, was shot on campus leaving a game. Police said the shooting was gang related.
Savannah State University
20-year-old Donald Bernard Lewis, who was not a student at the college, was shot on campus around 3:30 a.m. SSU locked down the campus immediately after the incident and sent out
alerts to students. No suspects were identified around the time of the shooting.
Sparks Middle School
12 year-old, Jose Reyes, a seventh-grader at Sparks Middle School, took his parents' 9mm Luger from home and opened fire within 10 minutes of arriving at school. He killed a teacher and injured two students, and then turned the gun on himself. Reyes had left two suicide notes, one indicating his being bullied and a desire for revenge. Three days before the shooting, his father took him to see a psychotherapist who prescribed him an anti-depressant.

Arapahoe High School
17-year-old Claire Davis died eight days after being shot by classmate Karl Pierson, 18, who'd allegedly planned his attack on Arapahoe High School for months. The police investigation found that Pierson had checked out a book about the 1999 shooting at Columbine High School, had been looking up guns and mass shootings on his computer in the school cafeteria, and had referred to himself in his diary as a "psychopath with a superiority complex." Pierson legally bought his pump-action shotgun at a local store; he also carried a machete and three molotov cocktails with him on the day of the shooting.

West Lafayette, IN
Cody Cousins, 23, a Purdue University student, shot and stabbed 21-year-old student Andrew Boldt in a basement classroom of the Electrical Engineering Building. Boldt was shot five times and received 19 stab and cut wounds. Cousins reportedly had a history of mental health issues, but later said, "I lied to those doctors...I killed Andrew Boldt because I wanted to...I do what I want and deal with the consequences later.”
Unclear (also stabbed victim)
Possible mental illness. The prison prescribed him medicine to control his moods and treat schizophrenia.
South Carolina State University
20-year-old student Brandon Robinson was shot outside a South Carolina State University dormitory after arguing with 19-year-old Justin Bernard Singleton, who was charged with murdering Robinson.
Raytown Success Academy
42-year-old Falonzo Davis was charged with first-degree murder after shooting Steven L. Jones when he was dropping his children off at school. Davis was reportedly upset because Jones was seeing his wife.
East English Village Preparatory Academy
19-year-old Darryl Smith was shot and killed by men with gang affiliations in the parking lot of the high school. The assailants shot into a crowd of approximately 100 people; Smith was reportedly not affiliated with a gang.
St. Mary Catholic School
55-year-old, Remanard Castro, out on a $90,000 bond for allegedly raping and threatening his wife, shot her as she picked up their son from St. Mary’s Catholic School.
Clarke Street School
10-year-old Sierra Guyton was shot and killed in the crossfire when 19-year-old Sylvester Lewis opened fire at an elementary school playground; Lewis was later convicted of reckless homicide.
Seattle Pacific University
26-year-old Aaron Ybarra, who had a long history of mental illness, shot and killed Seattle Pacific University student Paul Lee and wounded two other students. Ybarra was subdued by a student security monitor, Jon Meis, after Ybarra paused to reload his shotgun. Ybarra was not a student at Seattle Pacific University. News outlets reported that Ybarra was "obsessed" with the 1999 Columbine High School shooting and had even visited the site.
Long history of mental illness, had reportedly stopped taking his medication.
Reynolds High School
15-year-old Jared Michael Padgett, armed with an AR-15-style rifle and a semi-automatic handgun taken from his family's home, murdered Emilio Hoffman, 14, in a locker room at Reynolds High School, where they both attended. He also wounded a teacher and, after exchanging fire with law enforcement, shot himself. No link between the shooter and the deceased was made. The Portland Oregonian reported that Padgett had a "fascination with guns of all types."

Kelly High School
15-year-old Kaden Robert was killed in an accidental shooting in the parking lot of Kelly High School. Robert was with three friends; one of the boys was driving his grandfather's truck, which contained two handguns in the glove box. One of the guns went off when one of the boys passed it to Robert.
Newport News, VA
Warwick High School student David James Hosley, 17, used a 12-gauge shotgun to kill two Warwick High School students—John A. "Lito" Nieves Jr., 17, and Bryant M. Wilder Jr., 16—and injure a third in the parking lot of Saunders Elementary School. Hosley reportedly had a felony record; his motive was unclear.
Langston Hughes High School
17-year-old Kristofer Hunter, a student at McClarin High School, was allegedly shot by Eric Dana Johnson Jr., 18, at neighboring Langston Hughes High School after a homecoming football game.
Marysville-Pilchuck High School
15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg, using a .40-caliber Berretta, shot five students—including two of his cousins and three of his friends—in the school cafeteria at Marysville High School, killing all but his cousin Nate Hatch. Fryberg was reportedly well-liked at the school, but apparently had become deeply troubled in the weeks before the shooting, possibly related to a failed romantic pursuit. He also used the gun to take his own life on the scene.
