flubbernuggetVultures by Asking Alexandria https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TZOclrx1LlL8W3EuutORfWzc91XkKWKa/view?usp=sharingNever heard this song before. I don't care. You smashed this. You have finally found who you are and again you just smashed this out of the park. You are an incredible vocalist and Season 2 might be your season. Holy shit those high note vibratos just sent chills down my spine. I have nothing but love for you. Thank you for waking up towards the end of this contest. I don't think there was a single thing I hated about this. You have emotion, you have power, you are raw, you are energetic. 10. That's it. 10. You did the damn thing and understood the assignment. Take my 10 and enjoy the fuck out of it!God, you are so good at those gritty powerful rock vocals. Although this is sort of a standard entry for you, there's a reason it's standard—you nail every one of those high growled notes. The “ti-i-i-ime” in particular is awesome with how you control your voice as you go down. And I love how you turn the “siiiiiiiiign” at 2:38 slowly into a scream. I do notice that when you sing more quietly, you lose some control of your voice and occasionally go a bit flat/sharp. Although your trademark Flubbernugget rough sound is so awesome and unique, I think practicing your clean vocals a bit would give you more options for expression (so you aren't singing a line the same way every time) as well as more control even when you go for the growl instead of the straight tone. But I'm nitpicking because we're in the final four, and this was another killer performance from you.Hitting these dynamics well, the flourishes, the dramatic jumps from low to high. Good subtleties here, like the half-step wavering during the chorus. I'm especially liking the clarity on these high sustained notes just before each chorus. A brave new level of vocal fry around 2:40. Some flatness starting just before 3:10, struggling just a bit to get to these highest notes on the last chorus. Overall very nice, but I think it got away from you a little toward the end.9.6

Haschel CedricsonThe Boxer by Simon and Garfunkel https://drive.google.com/file/d/16e9LXOhWzjtNULCvoDx3htNDtIoiVCf4/view?usp=sharingThis was technically perfect. You were pitch perfect in fact. It had a very pleasant folksy feel to it. I rather liked it and I would maybe listen to this again. I have two criticisms this week. First, I didn't feel like this was the most dynamic performance you've had. It felt very (and I know you hate this word) safe. You didn't really play with the words, you didn't really try different ornamentations with the lyrics, it was just very much a "typical" Haschel performance. Second, the range on this song didn't really give you a lot of time to really have big singing moments. It was pleasant, but at this point I really wanted to see you go a little out of your comfort zone. You have nice harmonizations and I think you have a big range, but if I strip away the harmonizations this wasn't the most dynamic performance you've given us so far. Does that mean what you did is bad? No, far from it. The problem for me is that it's also very forgettable at this stage in the competition and as much as I love you, your voice, and the vibe you represent, I have to score this lower. I hope you don't take this as me saying you are bad because you aren't. You are in the top 4 for a reason. You are a great, dynamic singer, I just thought this song and performance was okay. Not my favorite. This was very much in your comfort zone as a singer, but I mean that as a compliment. Your notes were on pitch, your harmonies were gorgeous, and your soft tone and high range are perfectly suited to Simon and Garfunkel. Vocally I have no complaints this week. I don't know if you did something to your mic settings, because there are points it sounds a bit tinny, but it works really well for the song because the harmonies have a beautiful buzzing resonance, especially when you hum. Honestly, my only criticism is that I think the lai-la-lais dragged on at the end a bit too long--that's more the original song's fault than yours, but maybe you could have tried delivering each one differently or letting them slowly build in volume so they don't get repetitive. But otherwise, you knocked it out of the park this week!Simon and Garfunkel is a very good fit for you! This is very solid. Great job on the harmonies, though I do try to limit my judgment to just one of the vocal tracks in these cases simply so the contest doesn't evolve toward needing harmonies to win. Each vocal track is good and clear on its own. I suppose I don't feel as moved by this one as some of your previous entries; I don't feel as much coming through your voice here, but perhaps it's just the structure of the song. Again, very solid and no real complaints.9.366

lilith2013Rise Like A Phoenix by Conchita Wurst https://soundcloud.com/user-989649182-237388472/rise-like-a-phoenix-conchita-wurstI think your intro was a little soft to the point the music was overpowering you. However by the time you got to the chorus you just soared like a phoenix. Even if this isn't a real animal, I really felt you captured the spirit of the song. I was a little nervous when I heard you were doing this song. THIS IS HARD. I hope people realize just how good you actually are at singing. Was it perfect? No, a couple off notes here and there, but you really have just one incredible voice and by the time you got to that final chorus you sent me. I think this is your most dynamic and dramatic performance in weeks. I would have liked an inch or so more of pushing yourself emotionally in a performance, however I applaud you for a really solid song, something I've been missing for a couple weeks now. Well done, I hope this is enough to get you to the next stage. This is a very challenging song, and you showed off your range and power beautifully. As always, you sustain those long high notes so well. There are a couple of parts where the tone can get slightly nasal/breathy or a bit harsh, although I apologize that I don't have more constructive notes on how to fix this since I'm not a professional vocal coach. But I love how warm your head voice gets in the first chorus in particular—whatever you did there, I really like it! I'll admit that it's a bit hard for me to be objective on this song, as the original is near and dear to my heart, and this is a very different take on it. I'm used to it as this low sultry Bond torch song, so when sung in this key, it sounds a bit reserved and choir-girl-y. That said, a different take isn't necessarily a bad one, and you nail the build-up with how you sing the last dramatic chorus so powerfully. Well done!Very nice climb to the first chorus. Very pretty chorus. A touch flat around 1:40. Starting with the second chorus, it seems like you have a little less power in your voice than usual, a little less breath support perhaps. Which, I think this is a song that really calls for some fully supported sustains. It's still always a pleasure listening to you on these high notes.9.233

SkeldaFox in the Snow by Belle and Sebastian https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JZRo8isb-9ProKqTWONVm8ffHMMoqP_H/view?usp=drivesdkThis song is tricky. There's a lot of jumps and skipping around of the notes in weird and intricate ways. I've never heard this song before, but it had a very pleasant tone to it. I don't think this was your best performance, but it was solid. I think you have one the most unique voices. What I think I liked about that is that sometimes I feel like in the past you have moments where you push notes too much to the point of being sharp, but I was just really jamming along to this and it was just very clean pitch wise. Challenging melody, nice clean tones, staying in pitch. And also there were differences in dynamics to your voice, though I think you could have pushed it more. Maybe starting softer and growing and then backing off and then growing again would have added just that much more depth to this song. But I think you've done enough to progress farther. This was just really lovely Skelda, however I think you are going to need a WOW moment if you want to make it to the finale and I hope you get that next week. This teetered a little on the brink of being a safe performance and because of how difficult the melody was and how you did incorporate some form of dynamics, I've rated you a little higher, but be sure to bring it if you are here in future weeks because again, of all the performances you've given this is probably one of the least memorable and you have too good a voice for me to forget you. You got this!Although this is very different from your usual entry, the risk paid off, because it wound up being a fantastic choice for you! This was so lovely. Although I'm sad you didn't get a chance to flaunt your powerful voice and a few of the higher notes sounded a *bit* weaker (but in a way that works for such a quiet song), the soft and delicate vocals were beautiful, especially the parts where your tone gets warmer and more full. But above all, you sang it with loads of emotion and expression. Just...wow. I feel like this is one of those entries I'll keep relistening to after, because it was wonderful. On a side note, you do a great British accent when you sing. :D Your voice reminds me a bit of Morrissey here.I don't know how much of this to attribute to song choice and how much to attribute to your delivery, but you've got a knack for making things sound very natural within a song even if they weren't exactly that way in the original. This is a very nice, sweet entry with some fun rhythmic stuff going on ("black and blue," "way to go"). I really like the measured, solid, pretty sustains in this song (around 3:00 I think is a good example). Yeah this one was quite enjoyable, bravo.9.667
