1Tuesday19 JanuaryNerissa3 Integrity Power of yet Nerissa: Good morning Ms Siau, Mdm Chow, Mr Cheong, teachers and NCzens. I am Nerissa Chou from class 3 Integrity.
Zhuoxin:
Nerissa: Hey zhuoxin! It is the third week of the school year. I hope you are adjusting well so far?
I’m not familiar with most of my sec 3 classmates, and not everyone is speaking to each other… It’s been really awkward so far. I don’t think I can socialise with anyone. I just can’t do this...
Nerissa: ...yet.
Zhuoxin:
Nerissa: I said: “you can’t do this… yet.” Remember? We were taught the “power of yet” in class during CCE. I remember this article I found online; it goes like this: “the “Power of Yet” has been such a simple reminder to persevere through the rough times. Perseverance can be the difference between a student who gives up on a problem and another student who routinely concludes that understanding will come with more effort, questions, or use of additional strategies.”
Zhuoxin: *
Nerissa: Yes, “yet” may just be a simple word, but placing this magical word behind some of the sentences we say or think, can change our way of thinking a lot!
Zhuoxin: hmmm…
Nerissa: Sentences like: “I don’t get it.”, “It didn’t work out”. Adding the word “yet” changes all these to: “I don’t get it yet.” and “It hasn’t worked out yet.”. It changes the meaning of the sentences.
Zhuoxin:
Nerissa: Ending off with a quote from Sheila Tobias: “There is a difference between not knowing and not knowing yet.” In the face of challenges, we should take it head on with a positive mindset. If you are still struggling to adjust back to school life from the holidays, always stay positive and remember, adding the word “yet” to your thoughts can change everything. With that, thank you for your kind attention and have a wonderful day ahead of you!

2 Perseverance
Power of YetGood morning all, I am Elvia from 2 Perseverance and today I will be sharing with you a short story. There was once a company whose CEO was very strict. One day, there was a sign on the door that read, “Yesterday, the person who has been holding you back from succeeding in this company passed away. Please gather for a funeral service in the assembly room.” While the employees were sad for the family of their CEO, they were also intrigued at the prospect of getting promoted. Upon entering the assembly room, many employees were surprised to see the CEO was present. They wondered, “If it wasn’t him who was holding us back from being successful, who was it? Who has died?” The employees approached the coffin, and upon looking inside, each was quite surprised. In the coffin, there was simply a mirror. Beside it, there was a hand-written sign by the CEO. It read: Are you going to keep allowing that person to hold you back? The moral of this story is that the only person who can really stand in the way of our success is ourselves. It is entirely up to us to move it and make things happen. Let’s not be our own obstacles to success. Instead of simply waiting for good things to happen, let’s seize the opportunities to improve ourselves. Thank you for listening, have a nice day!

Thursday28 JanuaryClara3 Gratitude Power of Yet

5Tuesday2 FebruaryBryan Hoe3 Integrity COVID-19 and the Power of YetGood morning Ms Siau, Mdm Chow, Mr Cheong, Teachers and NCzens. I am Bryan Hoe from 3 Integrity.

Before I start my morning sharing, I would like to ask all of you if you know how many cases of COVID-19 infections Singapore has thus far? If you don’t, it is numbered at 59,449 on Sunday morning. Now I would like all of you to imagine how you usually celebrate Chinese New Year, it could be reunion dinners or house visiting. I would like you to keep that image in your mind, and as you all have probably heard, Singapore is tightening restrictions for the upcoming Chinese New Year to prevent the spread of COVID-19. New restrictions, such as each household only being allowed to receive up to eight visitors a day, have been imposed. This will mean that the usual busy and crowded Chinese New Year will be a lot quieter. Imagine that image you thought of just now, minus all the people. Is it still a lively atmosphere? Some of us may view this lack of people as an inconvenience while some of us may take advantage of this opportunity to avoid our extended family, but why are these restrictions necessary? Is the government trying to cause us trouble and inconvenience? No, but it is because the number of COVID-19 community cases has increased in the past few weeks. This is due to complacency setting in on some people in Singapore. Thus, as Health Minister Gan Kim Yong has said, measures will be tightened to stem the spread of the virus.

However, despite this, we all need to persevere through, and believe that Singapore will get through this crisis. Although we still need to practise caution and follow the Safe Management Measures, we should not give up. For example, we should not have gatherings of more than 8 people and instead we can try using online platforms such as zoom to host gatherings! As you may have learned, the Power of Yet is about having the right mindset to persevere through the difficult times and challenges. Singapore has not yet passed through the rough times of COVID-19. We should all stay resilient, and play our part to help control the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore and support Singapore through these tough times. You may see these restrictions as inconveniences, and think that they do not work. But, however tough or inconvenient these restrictions are, we should all try our best to keep to them. After all, as I have just said, our country has yet to have come out of this difficult time. With all of our continuous help and cooperation, Singapore will soon be able to come out victorious against this virus.

Never lose hope in the fact that this pandemic will be over. All we need to do is remember the Power of Yet, and continue soldiering on. Remember, Singapore has only yet to come through. We can make it a reality if we work together and persevere. Happy Ox-picious Chinese New Year of the Ox and remember to ox-ercise the Power Of Yet! Thank you for your kind attention and have an ox-citing day ahead!

Thursday4 FebuaryJordan Goh2 HumilityThe Power of Yet and its Origin校长,各位老师和同学们早上好! Power of Yet” 是什么呢?

6Tuesday9 FebuarySamuel Soo2InnovationSincerity Good morning teachers and friends, I am Samuel Soo from class 2 Innovation. Today, I will be sharing about one of our school values, Sincerity. Sincerity is to be truthful and sincerity is the honesty of the mind. In other words, you have to be truthful and sincere.
Now let me tell you about a blind man and his friend named Bankei. Bankei was a very truthful man who showed everything he thought in his voice. When Bankei died, the blind man cried wholeheartedly beside his corpse. A crowd of people gathered around them, wondering how close their relationship must have been. He explained, “Since I am blind, I cannot see a person’s face, so I must judge his character by the sound of his voice.Usually, when I hear someone congratulate another upon his happiness or success, I also hear a secret tone of envy. When condolence is expressed for the misfortune of another, I hear pleasure and satisfaction. However, Bankei was different. Bankei’s voice was always sincere. Whenever he expressed happiness, I heard nothing but happiness, and whenever he expressed sorrow, sorrow was all I heard. That is why I trust him and he shall be my friend forever.”
How do we show sincerity, you might ask. To be honest, what you do every day might just be an act of sincerity. Sincerity can be giving people compliments that reflect your true inner feelings or performing acts of kindness without expecting anything in return. Sincerity is important in treating the people around you. In school, there will be a lot of work to do, and some might be so hard you would require other people’s help. To get their help, you need to earn their trust and friendship through sincerity. After all, only when you are sincere, will people trust you, and only when you are sincere, will you make real friends.
Now then, let me end my sharing with a quote. ”Insincerity is always weakness; sincerity even in error is a strength.”As nczens, you can show sincerity by doing good things without thinking about reward, or, you can try to speak the truth and be genuine when answering people's questions. Let us all be sincere in what we do.
Thank you for your attention and have a great day ahead.

9Tuesday2 March 2021Li XinYun3 IntegrityGratitudeGood morning Ms Siau, Mdm Chow, Mr Cheong, teachers and fellow NCzens. I am xinyun from 3 integrity and today I will be talking about the topic of gratitude. My sharing will contain three parts, what is gratitude, how does gratitude help us? And ways we can cultivate gratitude.

Do we really know the meaning of gratitude? All of us know that gratitude is being grateful for what we have, but have we really thought about it on a deeper level? While I did some research for this morning sharing script, I got to understand more about gratitude and today I will share with you my findings as well as what I feel about gratitude.

Gratitude is derived from the latin word gratia, which can mean grace, graciousness or gratitude depending on the context. Being grateful is a thankful appreciation for what an individual receives whether tangible or intangible. But how does it help us? when we are grateful, we are able to acknowledge the goodness in our lives, focusing on what we have. Do you have something you truly desire? something that you want and is unable to let go of? Me too, but sometimes we need to realise that the happiness that "something" gets you is temporary. it would fade away and this endless cycle of desire would repeat. We will always have something that we want, but what is more important are the things that we already have in our lives. With gratitude, we become more appreciative for what we have, instead of always being greedy, either for new things or wants. Now I will share some ways to cultivate gratitude. The first way is, thanking someone mentally. If someone helped you, say thank you and when you think about it again and you want to thank that someone, but you don’t feel comfortable doing so you can thank them by thinking about what they have done for you and thank them mentally, feel the warmth in your heart as you think about it. Another way is writing down your gratitude in a journal or a planner, just jot down things people have done for you daily, that will help you to feel grateful for that person as you write. These are practices you can incorporate in your daily life.Personally, something I really like to do is, usually after dinner I would put on my earpiece, and stand beside a window. Then I would just listen to music and not think much. I would allow my mind to go blank and I will stare into a distance or look around. i would just focus on the present moment without judgment. And as I stand there, I would appreciate the moment and somehow as I calm down, I start thinking about beautiful things I have in life, and I will start thinking about the things I have and the help I have received, and be grateful for the person who helped me. Then by the end of 15 minutes I would just go and do my things. My eyebrows usually tense up easily but when I do these things it releases the tension and I feel less stress and instead grateful and motivated. Try these practices out! You never know if it will help you or not.
Thank you for listening, and hopefully you find my sharing useful! Have a nice day ahead!

10TuesdayCheng En2 humility perseverance Good morning principals, teachers, and NCzens, I'm Cheng En from 2 humility. Let me start my sharing with a quote from an American football coach Vince Lombardi  “Winners never quit, quitters never win”. Today I will be sharing with you a short story about perseverance. I'm sure that most of you know who Stephen King is, or have heard of him before. He is the author of these books: It, The Stand, and many more.

Stephen King was broke and struggling when he first started to write.
He received so many rejection letters for his works that he developed a system for collecting them. In his book, “On Writing”, he recalls: “By the time I was 14...the nail in my wall could no longer support the weight of the rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and kept on writing.” The reason he changed the nail to a spike was that it could support more weight than the old one.

He received 60 rejections before selling his first short story, "The Glass Floor," for $35. Even his current best-selling book, Carrie, wasn’t a hit at first. After dozens of rejections, he finally sold it to Doubleday Publishing, where the hardback sold only 13,000 copies—not great. Soon after, King earned more than half a million from the paperback rights.

Stephen King is a shining example of a person who didn’t let failure define him, who achieved success by the simple fact of never giving up. He could have let his background and lack of financial privilege hold him back, but he didn’t. He pushed on regardless. He could have received one rejection and decided that writing wasn’t for him, but he didn’t. He continued to write and submit, learning from each rejection, sharpening his craft and his skills.

Now, let me give you an example of how you, NCzens can show perseverance. I believe that most of us while running the 5 rounds for the 2.4km NAPFA test will feel tired and we will start walking. When we feel tired, we should think of our motivation to persevere. One of my motivations to persevere is to have better timing and it motivates me to run faster. Linking back to the story I just mentioned, we can learn from Stephen king and learn to persevere even when we are close to giving up.

Remember, perseverance is the key to success.

I hope that you will be able to understand the importance of perseverance and apply it to your daily life, especially during mass pe lessons when you have to train for your 2.4km NAPFA test.

Thank you for your kind attention and have a great day ahead.

1Tuesday29 JuneZeon3 HumilityExploring hobbies to relax from exams
"Bobby, what did you do during the June holidays, I did 10 assessment books leh, 'O' levels coming soon you know"
"Wah xiao Ming, so many assessment books ah, I did the tys for all my subjects and also finished the 15 assessment books my mother gave me"
"What about you leh, da Ming?"
"I... finished my homework, did some revision and learned some japanese..."
"Wah, what have you learnt so far, can you share with us?"
"I uhh..."

Good morning Ms Siau, Madam Chow, Mr Cheong, teachers and fellow NCzens, I'm sure we have enjoyed this long June holiday break! But no matter how much rest and revision we have done during the June holidays, it's the start of a new term, and we have to prepare for our upcoming PA2 and prelims .At the same time we should be mindful to pace ourselves and know when to take a break, spending time on our hobbies and satisfying our curiosity.

Personally I really like to watch anime, and I was very curious about the Japanese culture and language. To challenge myself, I started learning Japanese in my own free time since the circuit breaker period last year! It has already been a year and I continue to learn it everyday by using the Duolingo app; I take a break every now and then from studying and just learn some Japanese. It helps me take my mind off school work and allows me to relax. I don’t feel like I am actually studying as I find Japanese interesting. The extensive Chinese influence on the Japanese language also helps me to understand it better.

So what are you waiting for? Pick up a new skill or hobby that you like, and it will help you to unwind when you are tired from studying!

Thursday1 JulyHeng Suang2 Gratitude

Thursday8 Julyzhuoxin3 excellenceyouth dayzhuoxin:
rhian: i am rhian from 3 excellence
rhian: i sure do! it was youth day! we even had one day to enjoy a school holiday on monday !
rhian: yup! youth day celebrated today is more than a mere celebration of a generation. The youth form an integral unit of our society. With their creativity and exuberance, they are learning, discovering and exploring. More importantly, the youth represent the tide of change and renewal in society
rhian: wow! i didn’t know that youth day could have such a meaningful history behind it!
rhian: yes,i agree. being youths, we should contribute to the best of our ability to have positive impact on society!
