Our OST program will hold classes in person unless we must quarantine at any point throughout the year. In the case of mandatory quarantine, OST staff will each be assigned a small group of students by the classroom teacher to help those students who struggle the most to understand and complete their online tasks and assignments.Guadalupe School is dividing up students into an AA/BB (AA=Monday/Tuesday and BB=Thursday/Friday) schedule to keep class sizes smaller for optimal social distancing. Each student will only attend in-person two days each week, but OST programming will run four days a week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) to serve two groups of students. OST will provide an additional 2.75 hours of in-class time each day. OST staff are trained in the school's online learning programs and strategies to best support the classroom teachers. Students in OST will have internet access and access to computers and devices to help close the digital divide that so many of our students and families face during this pandemic. Students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with and complete many of their online assignments while in OST and with the support of OST staff members. OST students in greatest academic need will also receive STAR reading tutoring and ESL tutoring during OST hours. Every student will also have a 15-minute weekly Prevention Component class from the school's social work interns. In these classes, there will be an emphasis on Mindfulness and Resilience to help students develop the stress management and coping tools they need as we face these challenging times together. OST will also provide continued music classes (general music and violin) and enrichment activities (student interest-based activities) each day.
