39 | Short and a bit on the tubby side, Roy doesn't stand out much physically and certainly doesn't seem like someone the average person would pay much attention to. His mousy hair is drab and poofy, his eyes are a boring shade of brown, and his features are too uninteresting to be considered anywhere close to handsome. However, he always dresses in flashy outfits on the cutting edge of the latest fashions, and is skilled at accenting his features and build in the best possible way, making him more difficult to ingore than he may initially appear. | Raised in Lilycove City, Roy is the son of a famous Coordinator and a retired Pokeathlon medalist. Both his parents are tall, athletic, strikingly attractive people, as is his older sister, so he's never really been sure where he gets his own looks from. Roy's family has certainly never looked down on him for being different, but there was a somewhat traumatizing period when he first hit puberty where the press was constantly expressing disappointment and confusion that his perfect parents had produced such a boring child. While he doesn't believe he has what it takes to follow in either of their footsteps, Roy has always been enchanted by his parents and the world of Pokemon competition. He's been involved in the sidelines of the Contest scene since birth, and knows all the major players since the dawn of the Hoenn's circuit by heart. Unable to fulfill his true dream, Roy has decided to support Trainers and Coordinators in the best way he can. He hopes to get some experience under his belt to better understand the medium of Pokemon competition in all its forms, and eventually pursue a career as a coach or talent scout. Roy's greatest dream is to someday be the kind of person that the real movers and shakers of the world can rely on for support and inspiration. He's gotten particularly skilled at designing outfits and accesories for people and Pokemon that are both functional and eye-catching, drawing inspiration from history, mythology, art, and nature. | |||||||||||

41 | Roy is a bit self-conscious about his shortcomings, particularly since the rest of his family are paragons of physical form. He doesn't feel like he has as much to contribute to the world as they do, and strives to make up for it. Still, while he may have self-esteem issues, he firmly believes that everyone has the potential to be beautiful in their own way. When it comes to helping others overcome their own doubts and self-confidence hangups, his strong-willed side shines through. In fact, he can be downright bossy sometimes when it comes to giving people advice. Fortunately, that advice is usually pretty spot-on. He pushes those close to him to improve themselves, as he has a knack for seeing the best in others and bringing it out in them. Generous to a fault, Roy is constantly giving small gifts or doing favors for other people. Part of this is because of his low opinion of himself; deep down, he fears his friends will leave him behind if he's not useful to them. Despite this overcompensation, he also genuinely enjoys seeing someone's face light up when he can make them happy. | ||||||||||||

43 | Though he knows he isn't exactly cut out to conquer all of Hoenn's Gyms, Roy is determined to learn as much about battling as he knows about Contests. When the time for the local qualifiers came, he was prepared. During the spring his parents' Pokemon had given him an egg that hatched into a spirited Sewaddle. While he'd been training Taylor how to help him make new accesories and clothing for his family, the two had also been learning how to fight together, building a bond of trust over the summer that proved a real asset during the preliminaries. Roy knew Taylor was no pushover and had confidence in the Sewaddle's abilities, but it still came as an unexpected surprise when they managed to dominate the tournament. Together they beat every opponent, in both strategy and style, and by the end of the final match their panache had even the audience was cheering for them. He remained humble, shrugging his victory off as partly being due to Lilycove not having a prominent battling scene, since it lacked a Gym and many of its inhabitants were more interested in Contests. But his family was still proud of the achievement, and with their encouragement Roy is now ready to face the Beginners Tournament. | ||||||||||||

45 | Roy has developed a strong affinity for Bug Pokemon, which began with playing alongside his mother's Leavanny and his father's Scolipede, who were a mated pair. Leavanny was the first to teach him how to make things out of silk and leaves, and other materials that he brought to her. He appreciates the Type for its natural beauty that so many people seem to easily dismiss. Sure, a Weedle isn't much to look at, but with a little time and effort it can undergo an amazing transformation into something beautiful, greater than it was before. In his heart, Roy believes anyone can be capable of metamorphosis. | ||||||||||||
